Abandoned: Discovery Island Final Mix Revealed, with a Demo

tl;dr download the demo at https://gamejolt.com/games/adi_finalmix/330936

As you all may know, I wasn’t happy with A:DI. Solid concept, poor execution. 0.7.2 was pretty good, but why not 1.0.0 and 1.0.2, or even 1.1? You see, technically, if you were to version those based off of what they really are, you would have 0.8.0, 0.8.2 and 0.8.3. The full game was rushed beyond saving and last minute additions were so sloppily integrated into the code that they were near impossible to remove. So, in response, I made R1 based off of the 0.7.2 code. And that was way too ambitious for its own good and I realized I couldn’t finish it because it needed so much work done to be able to actually work correctly.

So last month (March), I realized what I needed to do: I needed to pick up from A:DI, remove the grossly integrated issues with the game and began to slowly and carefully remove characters and bloat while improving other things with the game like enhancing the AI and overhauling the graphics. Now, it is time to reveal to you all what this has all added up to:

The logo isn’t finalized and it’ll most likely change since I’m not a big fan of the font and the sign still needs some texture and model changes.

Also oh hey AnArt’s new (original?) FNATI is using a Discovery Island sign too. Huh.

Back in my art school days I used to ride the 710 COPSA line from Parque Del Plata to Montevideo almost everyday. This is the Marcopolo Viaggio G4 Mercedes Benz model from the late 80s, one of the older bus models that was running on the line.

I mostly build 3D First Person Shooter game mechanics in Unity, and in this I'm just showing C4 mechanics I made for a little side project I am working on! :)
