Hey everyone, so as you may or may not know, I last Halloween did a collaboration with Vibingleaf where we created out own adaptation of the fnaf 2 Stringray virus that a few people had made videos on before: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rb_o3Ijt-z0&t=330s
When we created the video, I fully intended to create a playable version of it afterwards using the code I did in the video as a base.
I quickly realized however that, well. The gameplay in the Stingray video would translate horribly to a playable game. As a matter of fact, the video in general would make a horrible transition to a game.
Maybe it's just me, but I personally believe that our take on Stingray works as a vague video with blurry graphics and shit rather than a playable experience. That, alongside some kids progressively hounding me to finish the game didn't help my motivation much.
So I cancelled the playable version and went back to developing my other projects. Recently though, I've seen some people try to make playable versions of our video and it's gotten me thinking.
Even though I still don't feel motivated to turn that video into a playable game, I'm not against the idea of making a game that is based on the location and characters in the video, mixed in with completely different gameplay.
On top of that, I think I would probably cut back on the ransomware aesthetic. I'll be honest, I'm kinda bummed at myself for not going outside of the box more with the art for Stingray as I'm not a big fan of the ransomware trend and how goofy it can look at times.
Now, just to clarify, If I do end up developing this idea into something more, it would be on the backburner for a while. I have a lot of projects coming up after Lateshift At Nintendo World that are going to eat up most of my time, alongside stuff in my personal life too.
With that said, if this is something that interests y'all, I wouldn't be opposed to it. If you have ideas or anything like that, leave em bellow and I'll keep them in mind. For now, you'll just have to wait and see. You never know what an happen though :)
