It originally started as a simple 2D visualizer, those I usually make, but then I wanted to spice it up a bit with more effects!
I have it on Youtube as a proof of concept, I might share it later as a behind the scenes :)
Also I haven't been so excited to work on a project for a really long time, I don't know what happened, but I'm happy
So I came up with a silly concept and started working on it.
Since my adobe After Effects subscription expired, I used good old Motion from Apple, but it lacks a lot of flexibility (I make the 2 Pyro-Illusion trailers with that, for those who remember!).
So I couldn't use my MIDI based stuff script. I decided to figure out how to make it work in Blender. After an entire afternoon of research, trial and error, looking for libraries that would do the job only to find myself compiling their projects on my system, but failing and only to realize blender changed its Python version.
Sad :(
In the end decided to code a simple script to load MIDI data so that I could use it to drive some animations, and wrote (well lol, GPT-ed) my first Blender code! Even imported some cool libraries into Blender's Python.
Then also decided to finally give geometry nodes a go, since they would serve me really well for this kind of project!
I suffered a lot, this is me after 5 hours of trying to figure out how to get face based stuff done and then something I find the right 240 views Youtube video that by a miracle shows the nodes that I have to use to get what I want:
The final product (still work in progress but almost done) might be just a simple proof of concept for maybe future endeavors of the sort! It is nothing huge, however, I think it's a great start for stuff of the sort! Learning the first steps for new stuff in blender might be a great alternative for some of Motion's missing features that are in After Effects.
Yeah it's this kind of visually messed up... I went for it no shame.
