A lot of game decisions were made hastily and irresponsibly. This game was a vision of what I thought was fun in 2020. Although I meant no harm, I still carry responsibility for the material I distribute.
5 months ago I released an update that among all changes "reduced to the intensity of some VFXs". Here's exactly what changed:
Removed flashing cutscene in disclaimer. The most important change of the patch. Players are no longer punished for misclicking "continue". This gives the player more than enough time to leave the game in case of an accident.
Slightly reduced glitch intensity in the menu for subsequent runs.
Reduced glitch intensity in Chara's speech.
Slightly reduced shader intensity in the mirror state.
Reduced glitch intensity in the fight ending.
Even though these changes don't eliminate all flashing imagery, they should cause a bit less eye strain and unnecessary noice.
I apologize for being irresponsible with what I put in the game and how I warn people about it.
Moving forward, I've been looking into ways to deliver tension without the use of flashing imagary. Although usage of such effects is justified as long as the warning respects the player, I don't think it fits the aesthetic of my next fangame in development.
