We are still working on fixing the performance issues but in the meantime I'd like to address a couple of things:
The "stolen" art
we've had a couple accusations of art theft come our way, mainly from the Elon Musk website
both of these are nonsense.
The first one is regarding a couple posters created by someone on the aforementioned hellsite. These posters were not only fully credited but also outright said to be free to use by their creator, who has since directly given us the okay to continue using them.
The second one goes beyond nonsensical into outright comedic territory. The claim is that we stole the "Rita the Ram" character that appears as a cutout from a Reddit post.
Uh, the person who made that Reddit post (and thus the character) is part of the Remastered dev team. Maybe do just a bit of research before saying things like this (we're looking at you Sam).
The idea that Remastered was made out of spite for BATIM or Joey Drew Studios
Believe it or not, we did not -as a matter of fact- spend two full months working non-stop on a Bendy mod filled with references to all different types of Bendy media (both official and fan-made) because we don't like Bendy. Just the opposite actually.
Several members of the team have been openly critical about decisions made by JDS in the past, but that is a very different thing from trying to spite them.
The idea that Remastered is a fundamental misunderstanding of BATIM CH1/is trying to fix something that isn't broken
I want to make this abundantly clear, Remastered is not, in any way shape or form, trying to "one up" or replace the original BATIM CH1
truthfully it was not really trying to be anything
Remastered was the result of a few people fucking around with the alpha version of BATIM. It is an experiment first and foremost
We were not trying to make an objectively better CH1 nor were we intending on Remastered becoming as widely known as it did. If we were, we likely would have made something a bit more polished.
We do admittedly share some responsibility for this misconception though, due to the name. In truth the name Remastered was simply chosen because it sounded nice (and the much more accurate "Bendy and the Ink Machine but we fucked around with it a ton" could not fit on the CH1 menu screen)
Now to answer a few questions:
"What plans are there for future updates?"
Obviously we do intend on fixing the performance issues sometime within the next couple days. (We do sincerely apologize for this, all of our playtesters had fairly good PCs and thus these issues were not caught until release day.)
But after that, we have plans to heavily revise and improve much of the game. Amongst all the wild accusations and slander, we did receive quite a bit of good feedback and criticism, which we are doing our best to incorporate into our next major (non-performance related) update.
Remastered was, as stated up above, always just an experiment. But with so many eyes on the project, we may as well go all in.
"Chapter Two when?
We would, theoretically, like to do a CH2 at some point in the future though that is a long way off. Our focus is on improving CH1 first and foremost.
I think that's all for now though, if anyone has any other concerns feel free to leave a comment and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
(P.S. can you guys please stop falling into the Backrooms? We deliberately made it as hard as we could to trigger when playing casually, how the hell do all of you manage to do it)
