I've noticed that this game is getting more and more followers which is great! But there are some things about this game that are nagging at me;
There's no doubt that this has been my most popular game I've made thus far and again I can't thank you guys for the support. However, that's not to say the game doesn't have it's flaws.
When I made the game I used an addon/template called Horror Engine. During this time I was bored and wanted to try something different so I want with the Candy's idea. I was also experimenting with new ways to develop games, and wanted to try HE. This ended up being a poor choice.
In the beginning things were fine and I did have fun designing the maps and bringing the characters to life, but as development progressed I started to feel differently about the project.
HE was a bit messy and restricted some of my options in terms of making the game fit the style I was going for. Eventually it got to a point where I was getting stressed about development and rushed it to get the game done as quickly as I could.
The end product was not what I intended. The game was quite buggy, poorly optimized, and was just a bit sloppy in general. Since HE 's code is so vastly large it would be almost impossible to remove it from the game, making the only other option a complete redo.
I'm not saying the game is bad, it just could have been a lot better than it turned out. I will most likely not make a sequel/prequel or remake and will move on to other things.
I know many of you despite the game's flaws really enjoyed it and I'm glad! In the end the goal of my games is to provide enjoyment and entertainment to the players, which I work to improve with smoother games in the future. I'm sorry to those of you who couldn't get the game to work, which could be an unfit computer, or HE causing weird issues, (don't forget the game wasn't well optimized).
Sorry for such a long post but I feel that I needed to address these things and I appreciate it if you read this through to the end! This game most likely isn't getting updated again, so please go check out my other projects I'm currently working on! I would really appreciate it if you supported those as I aim to improve and learn from my errors.
