Of course, the animations are rough, some attacks aren't fully developed (they exist as an idea and animation, but as such they're not even balanced or have some type of unfixed bug), and it's noticeable that the idea of how the battles will be is still quite underdeveloped.
However, the attacks (at least the basic ones you get by leveling up) have their animations and are at least functional, so I mostly have a basic idea of what the combat will be like.
To explain how it will work, both Chie and Kendra can function as attackers, or by applying effects to enemies or themselves. This idea arose as a way to solve the problem of having to revive Alex with Joel, as he is unable to attack, you must have to spend two turns for use gun toss and use a perfume on alex, only to Joel dies when you revive Alex because he's taunted, leaving you defenseless against an enemy and unable to execute your game plan. Even so, they are not very different from their counterparts in the original game; Chie is like Alex when it comes to dealing damage, and Kendra is more of a tank with some moves that her son inherited.
So the next step for the development would be to figure out how to balance the battles and then a bit more into the game's story (In order to do something more than "We have to go to THE CITY®" and use it as an excuse to spit my worldbuilding on it)
The fight won't be as simple as going to the wiki or a walkthrough and seeing that the precise strategy to win is to spam your strongest attack, so get ready, Lisaheads, Secrets Areas Looters and Lore Raccoons!
