After completing JOLTober last month, I thought I would take a look at my pixel art progress and share it will all of you!

I wrote some thoughts down below! vvv

The top image is the first pixel art that I completed for JOLTober and my third pixel art overall. This was quite the undertaking for my experience level at the time, I struggled with the proportions and positioning of the character. Overall I am really proud of this piece and it is one of my favourites that I created for JOLTober.

The bottom image is the second most recent pixel art that I completed. This was a follower's choice prompt and they picked "moonlight". This wasn't my original idea for the piece, I often change my idea as I work on things. I wanted to place the trash panda in a nature scene but I ended up making her a bit more realistic than I planned and I didn't have the time to do a larger, realistic scene. So I scaled my idea down to what was achievable and honestly, I think I like this better. I also borrowed the tile pattern from another pixel art for JOLTober.

So why am I sharing this beyond a shameless plug for my art? I wanted to show how a consistent habit of creating art can really help you build up your skills and improve your art. The different prompts also really helped to push my comfort zones and inspired me to challenge myself. I wouldn't have made any of the art I made if I hadn't taken part in the challenge.

And I think it's also helpful for artists to look back on their catalogue of work. It's easy to overlook the improvements in your own art and to feel like you are stagnating or not improving. Much like you can't see your hair growing every day, you often can't see the small changes to your own art skills every time you pick up the pencil/brush/etc...

It's been a minute, I got covid and was out of commission. 😷

Thank you to everyone that sent me well-wishes! I'm feeling much better now 😀 so back to our regularly scheduled program!

day three of self-isolation ☹️

I used to be really interested in 35mm photography. I have a small film camera collection with the oldest one being from the 1930s.

Happy #WIPWednesday!

Are you working on a game?

Making some art?

Practicing a song?

Something else?

Hoping to get my skates today! I’ve been a little obsessed so I tried to stave off my tendency to be impatient by creating this cross-stitch!

Update: Skates are here. I definitely didn't fall on my butt almost immediately.

I tried to find the source to give credit to the photographer but all I found was some fake Nintendo game selling for $304 on Amazon.
