Hi! First time posting here - let me introduce myself and the game.
I'm an indie developer working on Airspace Overload solo. The game is a top-down arcade air traffic controller - planes appear at the edges of the screen, you tap one to select it and tap again to set its course, and you try to land them all without anything going wrong. The DNA is partly nostalgia: when I was a teenager I had a Siemens M65 phone with a small ATC game, and Airspace Overload is, in one way of looking at it, my attempt to bring that little time-killer onto modern devices and let it grow up a bit.
I've been developing this for about a year. It's already out on itch.io and on the mobile stores (iOS and Android), and starting today I'm cross-publishing on Game Jolt as well. Today also happens to be the launch day of 1.0.0 - the version I've been calling the "proper" release in my head for a long time. Here's what's in it.
The headline: Daily Pile-Up Championship
This is the new mode I'm most excited about. One shared sky, every player on Earth, one winner per day. Every flight any player successfully lands today layers into the same airspace as a ghost - yours, mine, everyone's - and the traffic builds up from morning until midnight. Whoever lands the day's final flight wins it. You can drop in whenever you have a few minutes; the sky will be a little more crowded each time you come back.
It's async multiplayer in a quiet, ambient way - you're never waiting for another player to take a turn, you're just sharing one accumulating airspace with everyone else across the day.
Daily rewards and play streaks
I also wanted 1.0 to give you a reason to come back tomorrow. So there's a new daily reward system - every day of the week has a different perk waiting (bonus credits, free Pile-Up entries, soft-start tokens, even a guaranteed clear-skies day). And if you keep your daily streak going, there are bigger bonuses at Day 3, 7, 14, and 30.
Where to play it
This Game Jolt page hosts several builds of 1.0.0. The web version is a demo - it runs in your browser with no install, but network features are off, so no global leaderboards, no daily rewards or streaks, and no actual participation in the Daily Pile-Up championship. (The Pile-Up button is still there in the web demo, but it plays as a solo round.) For the full experience, download the Windows, Mac OS, or Linux build here - those have the network on. The full version is also on iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play).
What's next
I'm calling 1.0 "the social update" because it's about the game becoming a habit, not just a thing you bounce off of for ten minutes. The next major releases I'm planning:
1.1 - variety. More reasons every day feels different. Candidates include an "airport of the day," a night-ops mode, achievements, profile customization. Not all of those will land in 1.1, but that's the theme.
1.2 - depth. Deeper play for committed pilots. Fuel as a strategic dimension, an expanded aircraft fleet, cosmetics.
I'll post devlogs here as features ship. If you find a bug, have an idea, or just want to say hi, the comments here are the easiest way to reach me - I read all of them.
Thanks for stopping by. Now go fly some planes: https://gamejolt.com/games/airspace-overload/1070945
