Hey fellas, it's me, Compa. I figured to almost wrap up the year; I would look back on how much this game has involved into and what's to come next year. Expect this post to be long so I don't blame anyone who slimmed over.
Disclaimer, I wanted to correct myself if I call CoolC he/him instead of they/them, just to clarify that they go by they/them, and sometimes it slips my mind often, so again, sorry about that, I just didn't want to recorrect myself every time I did so since I already made the remaining post before remembering, so yeah.
First off, let me give ya some backstory but don't worry, it be short. So back in November, Just Don't was originally a FNaFb 1 reskin that CoolC made regarding the friends they had in the FNaFb scene at the time, then I went ahead and edit the game into what it is today. This of course led to the introduction of JD CAE and the current direction of the series.
Now that almost a year has passed both for JD (one month late) and almost a few days into starting a new year, what are my thoughts of JD currently? Well, I don't regret what I worked on as a whole, tho I will admit, it was pretty rough starting out considering some characters were clearly better than others, aswell as some skills being weaker than others, especially around the end as i was trying to do an April 1st deadline when I should have took my time. Hell, even CoolC said to hold off on the release since they were working on JDCAE at the time. It did take several patches to fix overtime, which is bound to happen as at the time, it was just the two of us doing most of the work. One of the biggest regrets when it came to JD1 at least to me was making Chungus Yoshi uncomfortable when it came to putting him into the game as one of the characters, later on in dms when I asked him, he did uncomfortable for us using stuff that he didn't want out to public yet, which is kind of my own fault on my part and I wanna own that mistake. Chungus, if you're reading, I myself and CoolC are truly sorry for doing that, and are trying to seperate ya from the project.
Regardless, overall, JD1 2.0 was a defiantly an experience, one that with a few exceptions, I don't regret ever attempting at all.
But now, what's to come in 2026?
Well, for those who want JD2, that will sadly have to wait for now. Me and CoolC are deciding to go back into JD1 for a major what is going to be a Final Mix update. I've hinted this in the 5/19/25 Additional Tweaks post that going forward will be the next major update. Tho considering how big the update is going to be for the game, it IS going to be split into two parts, and even then, the first one will be a huge overall on the game.
The first half will as i started will include two scenarios (with one being a demo of it rather than a full game), the other half will also consist of two new scenarios aswell, aswell as hopefully debug and extras room and Fixed Party mode. But only time will tell on that.
As for what the first half will contain in terms of main scenario stuff, some dialogue will be overhauled to fit with the current lore we're still working on or certain dialogue being overhauled to be more unique. Additionally, we plan some more NPC task in the game for extra stuff, which will include a new currency being added. New options menu has been added which includes some options to enhance your game in different ways. Some things got some graphical changes (i.e. New Facesets, new icons, battler, etc.), new bosses will be added, some that will be part of certain options, some will be added to be monitory, and some will be secrets not on the book. Which also leads to be new secret areas aswell, with some hints telling you hints on where they might be located, several new items will be added, and two new skill overhauls, mainly for a rework for Tails Doll and an overhaul for Yoshi's moveset, as such is the main focus of the screenshot in this.
I don't want to get more detail since I don't want to spoil everything we have planned, but 2026 will be hopefully the last time we have to do anything major in JD1 but only time will tell. Do keep in mind, since it's basically a semi-group effort (mostly between me and CoolC with some help from others), i'll be on and off of this project and will be working on another main project that has been my main focus while not working on Just Don't.
