DUSTTALE: Brotherly LOVE

An Announcement.

I did not want to make this post, honestly, but here we are.

I am here to announce that DUSTTALE: Brotherly LOVE is hereby on indefinite hiatus.

Why? Well, that's what I made this post for.

When I started working on DTBL, it wasn't as big as it was now. It was a small OST project me and my friends made with a write up that was going to take about 5 months to finish. That was all that was planned for it.

And then some of my friends started coding, others hit me up, and I started to think: What if we made this a game?

While that sounds like a no brainer, it ended up being the very reason for the project's slow decline. EVERYTHING started relying on coding progress. Sprites were done. Animations were finished. Yet, there was nothing to be found.

This was NOT the fault of the coders, however. Leading a team is hard, and with the IRL situations I've been dealing with I was not equipped to fully direct a game with a team of around 1-2 active coders. Therefore, I kept putting off giving them tasks, hoping new coders would join so I wouldn't have to constantly only make them work. The issue with only having 1-2 coders is that if you end up having a problem with them, that's pretty much all of your game progress gone in one day. This has already happened MULTIPLE times, and I wasn't keen on having it happen again.

Team Members I brought on to help started not replying, others left to their own reasons, others starting outright drama.

I don't even want to get into the mountains of drama I've been dragged into when all I've ever been trying to do is mind my own business. Yet, it's a major factor that's made me completely lose motivation for the project. What's the point of working on something if somebody can just lie about you and make you lose everything you've worked for on a whim?

Honestly, I would love to continue this project. But with the way things are going, the amount of former team member's contributions I'd have to remove to make this project feasible again is ridiculous, and I think for once I'm going to choose my mental health over Undertale.

Everyone who has supported this project, thank you for the support. It means the world and I'm sorry I couldn't deliver.

Maybe things will be better in a few months. Maybe even a year. It just depends on how I and the other co-owners feel.

You may still occasionally see small posts here and there, and if progress somehow picks back up again, I'll let you all know.

Thank you for the good times, and goodbye for now.

hate to be that guy but just a small reminder that this is a passion project that I and the team are doing for fun. we are not obligated to do exactly you want at what time. that's all

how is everyone doing

intervene is scrapped and dw2 is unused now because it was mistaken for a fight and not a theme

ask me anything
