Hey you all. It's been almost a full 24 hours since the launch of the game, and so far it seems its been receiving positive reception!
However, I've noticed that I see a lot of the same comments asking the same things over and over, so I'll just use this thread to answer some of these. If you have any questions/requests of your own, don't be afraid to ask here!
The Nights are too long! Make them shorter!
I see this one pop up the most. The reason the nights are 9 minutes long (a minute and a half per hour) is because the base game (excluding the older mobile port) had nights lasting 8 minutes and 55 seconds long. The UCN hours are essentially exactly the same length as the original's hours, just rounded out.
I believe the reason that people say the nights feel longer than they should be is because there was no timer in the base game, as such you wouldn't really think about the length too much. But now that there's a timer, you actually have a visual for how much is left, and it gives the illusion its longer.
My goal with this game wasn't just to make a sandbox game with 12 characters, I wanted to create an authentic experience with the first FNaF game, but with the addition of new characters from other games to see how they would've worked in that environment. So everything that isn't new is meant to be as close to the original as possible (apart from the power, which of course had to be adjusted a little).
So no, I do not plan to adjust the length of the nights. If the nights feel like they're too long for you, my advice is to not constantly look at the timer. Not only will you be able to focus on other parts of the game better, but the nights will feel a little faster as well.
The heat in the room rises too quickly! Adjust the fan!
The entire point of the fan mechanic wasn't to be a big way to save power in your room, it was meant to be used as a way to shave off a bar of power if you needed to close a door or open a camera briefly without worrying about wasting power for using one little thing.
However, I do somewhat agree with those saying it needs a little bit of an adjustment, so 1.0.1 will adjust how the heat in your room rises and falls. Keep in mind, however, that the amount of power you have will also need to be adjusted to keep the balance.
I'm having a hard time unlocking stuff, such as the backgrounds!
This was my bad, since I didn't really make it clear the method of unlocking the backgrounds and music. I'll clarify here to help those who need it.
- To unlock backgrounds, you need to reach a total earned point amount. For instance, if you got 4000 in one night and 6000 another, you'd have a total of 10000 points. You can keep an eye on this amount in the statistics menu. In short:
* BG 1 is unlocked by getting a total of 40000 points.
* BG 2 is unlocked by getting a total of 80000 points.
- To unlock music, you can get the first 3 by reach a certain highscore amount.
* Music 2 is unlocked at a highscore of 2000.
* Music 3 is unlocked at a highscore of 5000.
* Music 4 is unlocked at a highscore of 8000.
Music 5 is unlocked differently. You need to complete Night 7 of FNAF Ultra, thus completing the game. Speaking of which...
How do you beat the secret character in Night 7?
Although due to a glitch the way of beating him was somewhat leaked in an older patch, I will take the time to clarify the method here.
When he is active, a new camera appears near the bathrooms. It will be empty at first, but eventually the character will appear in the camera. Once he's there, you have a limited amount of time to find his microphone somewhere in the restaurant.
The camera more serves as a timer; the longer you take, the closer he gets to the exit of the room. Once he leaves the room (meaning you took too long), there is no way to stop him.
Finding his microphone means he will be put at bay for now. Of course, this is easier said than done, especially on busier nights, however the microphone can only appear in 5 cameras.
- Camera 1B: The Dining Room.
- Camera 1C: Pirates Cove.
- Camera 3: The Closet.
- Camera 5: Backstage.
- Camera 7: Bathrooms.
The microphone could be on a table, a shelf, or maybe on the floor. To optimally beat the character, it is important to remember the location of the microphone in the room you're looking at.
Important note on Camera 1B: The microphone will not spawn there if Ballora is currently in the dining room, since she blocks that camera while she resides there. To ensure that the microphone didn't need to be re-positioned whenever she moved back to the dining room, Ballora's AI is actually temporarily paused until the microphone is found.
I know this all seems complicated, but I wanted to design the character as a mix-up to the night. Instead of just relying on two cameras the entire night, you now have actual use for most other camera's in the game.
A hint to the seventh night character will be added in-game if you die to him once for 1.0.1. I hope you all will finally be able to conquer the 7th night with this knowledge.
Anyways, I think that's everything for now. I'll update this page some more if you have more questions and requests for me. 1.0.1 will most likely launch either tomorrow (12/15/19) or Monday (12/16/19). Essentially, what you should look forward to for the first minor update is:
An adjustment to the fan mechanic.
Some way to hint the player on how to unlock extra content.
An in-game hint on beating the 7th night character.
I guess I should get back to work now. For now, enjoy the game as is, and I'll talk to you all later!
