Hello! I’ve been around here on GameJolt for some time now, so I’d like to tell a few things about me, in particulair my gaming taste and my other self-made games.
My gaming taste is pretty variating. I like to play a lot of different games. Nintendo is my favorite big development studio. I really like TLOZelda (Skyward Sword is my favorite), Fire Emblem, Wario, and so on. As indie studios I like the Dutch Two Tribes with their develish hard Toki Tori, challenging EDGE, and minimalist puzzler Toki Tori 2. Also, I like Gaijin Games for their efforts on the BIT.TRIP series. Lastly, I’d like to add that I am a fan of the Art Style series. A few of the games in the series are a special trip into the geometric, the minimalisim, taking gaming back to the beginning. Some people like comparing BIT.TRIP to Art Style. For more info about my gaming style, you can visit my Backloggery. You can also see there that I am currently playing Rayman Legends, Etrian Odessy IV and the Streetpass Park Games.
Next, I’ll go in a bit deeper on what I created- with screenshots!
The first one was a pretty simple arcade game called Seed in the Sky. It was mainly based on Dr. Crygors Boss Minigame in Warioware Touched!. The main goal was collecting floating berries and avoiding insects, and landing on a mountain in the end.

Next up was Piko Runs. It’s one of those maze games you usually make first when you are starting in Game Maker. I think the screenshot mainly explains the game.

Next up: Ninja Night. This is the work I hate the most. It has only two levels, worthless gravity (you even get stuck in the floor sometimes) and bosses are mindless, all while enjoying the standard images, that come with Windows XP, in the background.

Change Forms was pretty cool. While still being a starting programmer, I made a game where you can collect gumballs to aquire new powers. It even had less mindlessy bosses as in Ninja Night.

Here is my first game I really feel proud of: Micro Massive. It was build around the idea of seeing the entire world in one wink of the eye. It was quite big, and I liked it a lot. Original Resolution Screenshot: http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/7128/screenshotforyoyocommun.png
I’m currenly looking for a way to get it on GameJolt, but I used GM’s standard save functions so I can’t integrate the API that easily. Maybe I’ll just release some patched version.
There’s a blank period now. I build a lot of unfinished games. I build a pong game with laser shooting, a three-man army strategy game, a game where you could ‘glitch’ through walls, but it all ended in vain. Then, I made a little local multiplayer game called Box Kickers. The game was all about kicking boxes in the opponents’ direction. The one who dies the least until the time runs out, wins.

That’s when the GMW38 came. In fact, these are the annual Game Maker contests of the Dutch Game Maker community. The theme was ‘explosions’. From that idea Subarashï was created. The idea is simple: you can blast your path through the sand and rocks with the explosions created by clicking with the mouse. This game can be played on GameJolt right here at http://gamejolt.com/games/puzzle/subarash/16437/ .

My lastest creation was Mathventure. I wanted to take an even more abstract gameplay idea in the works. The result was a game where multiplying and dividing are the most important things around. This was also my first experience with working with the pro version of Game Maker and with the GameJolt API. You can play Mathventure at GameJolt at http://gamejolt.com/games/puzzle/mathventure/15606/ .

I also made a few software tools. First is GEM, a 8-bit drawing tool. I had a cool time creating it.

And I also created a stopwatch which can be placed in the taskbar. It’s so ridicously useful.

Well, I hoped I cleared a few points in my game making history. I plan to use this blog mainly for discussing about design choices in my games, but also to talk about other big studios and games that I think are good but not wide-known. Maybe I’ll also talk about my current projects.
This is everything for now, but I’m looking to update my blog frequently, if it appears as a success.
In the meanwhile, why don’t you play Subarashï or Mathventure? They both have GameJolt API and trophies integrated. Thank you for reading!
Do you want to play one of the games that aren’t on GameJolt? I’m currently looking to bring at least Micro Massive here, but most of the rest can be found on my account on the YoYoGames Sandbox. It can be found here: http://sandbox.yoyogames.com/users/Amazingcookie
