Hi, I'm a kid named Jason. I live in the country with my parents and my dog, Lassie. We're pretty poor but we've got a nice place to live. There's this big tree that grows on our property. It's been there for as long as I can remember. The tree has a lot of branches, and sometimes it gets so windy that they all start whipping around at once. Sometimes when that happens, if you stand underneath the tree, you feel like you're flying through the air... nothing about it seems normal, and I wanted to investigate what was going on. "So one day I climbed up into the tree. That's when I saw her."
"Who?" asked Sis.
Jason took a deep breath. "I don't know her name. She had red hair, and she was wearing a blue dress. But that wasn't the weirdest thing. The weirdest thing was how she looked right at me! And then she smiled!"
"That's not weird," said Sis. "You're just imagining things."
"No, I swear it happened. When I turned around, she was gone. I ran home and told my mom and dad everything. They didn't believe me. So I went back to the tree, hoping to find her again. This time I stayed under the tree for a long time. I waited for hours, but I never saw her again. After that, I tried telling everyone else about her, but no one would listen. Now I'm starting to think maybe I imagined it all. I mean, why would someone from another world be hanging out in a tree? And why would she smile at me?"
Sis thought about this for a minute. "Maybe you were dreaming. You climb trees a lot, right?"
"Yeah, I guess so."
"Well, maybe your dreams are getting weird because you're climbing too high. Maybe you should try something different."
"Like what?"
"How about going to school?"

The next day, my mom dropped off at the bus stop. I sat down on a bench and waited. My stomach felt kind of funny, but I couldn't tell if it was nervousness or hunger. I keep seeing her every time I close my eyes. I wonder where she is now.
When the bus finally arrived, I followed the other kids inside. Everyone seemed really excited to see each other after being apart all summer. The bus driver led us to our seats... and it looked like the girl I saw getting in the bus, and I followed her, but when I found her, she vanished. I started to panic, but then I realized I was dreaming. I woke up in my bed, with my alarm clock ringing. I had a dream about the girl, but it didn't seem real. I don't know what to do anymore.
***
It was raining outside. I walked to school, thinking about the girl from my dream. I wondered who she was. Was she a ghost? A spirit? I kept looking up at the sky, hoping to see her. I tried talking to people, but they wouldn't talk to me. Then I noticed something strange. The rain stopped. The sun came out.
I hurried to school. As soon as I stepped onto the playground, I heard a voice calling my name. "Jason!"
I turned around. Standing there was the girl from my dream... I ran up to them, and they disappeared into a pile of flower petals. "What is going on?" I said, after grabbing a handful of petals. "Where did you go?"
My teacher came over and told me to get to class. I looked at the petals in my hand. "This is strange," I said. "These petals look like ones of a begonia... wait! I know a field of begonias, so maybe the mystery girl will be there!"
I rushed to the field. When I got there, I saw her standing near the edge of the field. She was wearing the same blue dress. "Hello!" I said. "Are you here for the flowers?"
She smiled. "Yes. I'm sorry I ran away last time. I was afraid." she said with a ghostly voice.
"Don't worry. I won't let anyone hurt you."
"Thank you."
"Who are you...and why do you just disappear?" I asked.
"I am an angel, and I have come to protect you."
"Protect me from what?"
"From the evil that comes from within."
"Evil? What does that mean?"
"You'll understand when the time comes."
Then she disappeared. I was confused. "Wait!" I yelled. "Please tell me what's going on!"
But she didn't answer.

I kept pondering what she told me. I tried asking my friends, but no one would tell me anything. I even asked my parents, but they didn't want to talk about it.
One day, my mom came home early. "We need to talk," she said.
"Okay."
"I've been thinking about something, and I think it's time for you to move out."
"What?" I asked. "Why?"
"Because I don't think you're safe living here anymore."
"Safe from what?"
"Your father has been acting very strange lately. He keeps saying he sees something in the corner of his eye. And he keeps hearing voices. I don't know what's going on, but I'm worried."
"Do you think it's connected to what the girl said?"
"You've seen the girl?"
"Yeah."
"And you believe her?"
"I do, but... wait, how do you know her"
"I met her a few days ago."
"Oh, really?"
"Yes. She's an angel."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course I'm sure. Why would I lie about something like that?"
"That's good to hear."
"Listen, Jason. Your father and I are going away for a while. We'll be back in a week or two. I want you to pack some clothes and your favorite toys. Then you can stay at your friend's house for a little bit."
"Okay."
"Good boy."
I packed my stuff and went over to my friend's house. His name is Robby. I was really happy to see him. We played video games until dinner time.
After dinner, Robby and I went outside. I told him about the girl. "Wow!" he said. "That's amazing!"
"What do you mean?"
"You must be special, Jason. To meet an angel and then to actually see her!"
"What does that mean?"
"I don't know. But I think it means you're going to be okay."
"I hope so."
"Let's play some more video games."

A week later, something happened. I was bleeding a black liquid. It looked like blood, but it wasn't.
"What is this?" I asked myself.
"Is it from the girl?"
I ran upstairs and found my mom in the kitchen. "Mom!" I said. "Something bad happened. Something's happening to me."
"Honey, calm down. What happened?"
"I was bleeding. It was black."
"Black?" she said.
"Yes. Black."
"Jason, what did you eat today?"
"Nothing. I haven't eaten anything since yesterday."
"Hmm..."
"What's wrong?"
"It's probably nothing. Go take a shower, and I'll make you some lunch."
"Okay."
"You can sleep in my room tonight. I don't want you to be alone."
"Thanks, Mom."
***
A week later, I stopped bleeding... and then the angel came back.
"Hi, Jason."
"Hi, Angel."
"Have you been feeling better?"
"Yes. Thanks."
"Good. Do you remember what I told you?"
"About the evil that comes from within?"
"Yes. Did you understand?"
"I think so."
"That's great. You're doing well."
"Thank you."
"There's something else I need to tell you."
"What?"
"Evil has spread to other people. You have to help them."
"Help who?"
"Everyone."
"How?"
"You'll figure it out when the time comes."
"All right."
"See you tomorrow."
"Bye, Angel."

The next day, I saw a bunch of people in the streets wearing white robes. They all had black bags over their heads. Some of them were walking around, but others were lying on the ground. "What's going on?" I asked.
"They're possessed," said Robby. "Someone must have cursed them."
"But how did they get cursed?"
"I don't know. But we have to do something about it."
"How?"
"We have to find the source of the curse. Once we do, we can break the curse."
"Okay."
"You'll know it when you see it. Trust me."
"I will."
"You have to go to school now. I'll call you later."
"Okay."
I went to school. It was hard to concentrate on my classes, but I managed. At lunchtime, I told Robby about what was going on.
"Wow! That's terrible! How can we help them?"
"I don't know. But I have to do something."
"Me too."
"Okay. Let's go find out what's causing this curse."
"Okay."
***
We left school and went to the park. We walked around, looking for the source of the curse. We saw a man with a book.
"He might know what's going on," I said.
Robby nodded. "Yeah, that makes sense."
We followed him into a building. Inside was a small library. There were only a few books on the shelves. "What's this place?" I asked.
"I think it's a bookstore."
"It looks kind of old."
"I know." said the old man reading a book on illnesses "This is where I used to work."
"Really?"
"Yeah. I worked here for a long time. Then one day, a customer came in and started reading the Bible. He read a verse that said 'if you stop running, you'll be cursed.' I didn't believe him, so I tried to stop him. But he just kept reading. So I called 911. After that, I never came back here again."
"What happened?"
"He was right. 30 years later, everyone started getting sick. First they got headaches, then they started vomiting. They lost their appetite, and then they started bleeding black. They'd get up in the middle of the night and walk around town. People thought it was contagious, so they stayed away from them. Now they're all dead."
"That's awful!"
"Yeah. I don't know why someone would do something like that."
"Do you know who did it?"
"No. But I know how you kids can stop it." the angel reappeared, and said "Alright then, tell us"
"Well you will need weapons, strange girl, you get a sword, fat kid, a bow and arrow, and if the prophecy is true, then you must be Jason, right?"
"Yes"
"Well, then, follow me"
We follow him to a room and he gives me a spell book.
"Tell nobody, you hear"
I nod.
The black liquid shows up and grabs the angel.
"No! Stop! Let me go!"
The angel screams.
"What's going on?"
"Evil is coming for me!"
"What do we do?"
"Run!"
The angel disappears. The black liquid starts chasing us. We ran through the streets.
"Come on! Run faster!"
"I'm trying! My legs are burning!"
We keep running. The black liquid is gaining on us. We're almost cornered.
"Stop!" yells Robby.
We turn around.
The black stuff grows more, and more in the shape of the angel, then I realize the liquid was the angel. She's no angel, she's trying to kill us all.
"I can't fight her!" I scream.
"Just give me the book!" says Robby.
"No, I have to do this"
I open the book and read a spell.
"Now!"
The spell hits the angel. She turns to ash and falls to the ground.
"That was easy"
"Yeah... um, dude?"
"Yeah"
He points up as the angel reforms itself and attacks with the sword.
“Um, Jason, what do we do”
I thought for a while, until it had it.
“To the begonias!”
“What?”
“Trust me”
We avoided the angel’s attack, and I lifted the flower petals from all that time ago with magic, and tossed them at them. We hit them, and the liquid fades away, and with it the girl.
“Well… wanna play video games?” said Rob
”Yeah, I’d like that”
So after a few days we fixed the damage that liquid did, got rid of the illness, and were heroes!
