First things first, I did some bug fixes. I fixed the instance where you could not interact with the wine bottle in the kitchen, which actually was supposed to have that functionality to begin with. Another notable bug that was fixed was the hard transition bug between the Exterior view of the house and the initial game start. I also fixed a bug that prevented certain sounds from playing in the demo.
Secondly, decided that certain rooms were much too square. TOO BLAND FOR MOI! So, I’ve made what I see as improvements. Carpets aren’t all the same, rooms are more appealing, returns to title screen upon demo end, etc.
As a third tweak, I saw that maybe the claustrophobic atmosphere I was going for was a little too claustrophobic. Haha, I increased the player’s light radius to 130, as this allows for more visibility! I also created the flashlight item, which will be obtained on a later floor. This item is self explanatory, it’s a flashlight. It increases the player’s light radius by 75, which may be adjusted in the future if need be.
And above all else, MORE INTERACTIVITY!!! For example, now the piano, and the appliances in the kitchen are completely “event-ed.” This means upon inspection, there is actually inspection text. Yay! We’re allowed to think now!
So, these are the minor updates for the demo/game so far. Of course this is not all that will be changed. I’m planning on adding at least another floor FOR THE DEMO, maybe two. A chase-style event will also be added. What do you think? Any suggestions while I’m here?
