Baldi's Basics: Back to School - Devlog no.2 - September 2021

Oh! Hi!

Welcome back to the construction site of Baldi's new Schoolhouse!

So, it's been, like, what? A whole-ho year and one month since the previous somewhat-proper development update log? ...Oh dear.

Once again, we apologize for the radio silence and once more thanks a whole lot for still sticking by despite the silence and occasional tiny posts that have been made up until today.

So, what's up? This project's not dead?

Apparently so! We are all honestly surprised to have found us back here working on this thing bit by bit again, considering we sort of have other things to attend to for the most part (like, working on personal projects of our own, studying at school and/or college, having internships, blah blah blah...suffice to say - just living our boring lives).

And while we did so, some more progress on the game has indeed been made this month!... with the first thing being finally having to switch engines because of certain sets of complications that previously occured (which was bound to happen, considering that Clickteam Fusion 2.5 is not a very 3D-friendly engine) which the team sadly had failed to tackle.

And with the new engine being used, a new guy (Cole) had to step in to kick things off.

...Yeah, I am Cole. The one who's writing this entry this time. Hello.

Now, enough stalling - let's get this finally started!

Things are looking more...nicer!

Fair Disclaimer: The game's still in development, so what you see is subject to change and doesn't represent the final picture; and not much can be said here, so - our apologies in advance if you were expecting something extremely noteworthy.

So, plenty of little stuff have had to be rewritten from scratch (duh), and this was done relatively quickly (and we are all really happy about that, actually), and while we were at it we did also add in a few tiny neat things. And we still continue adding in some more things bit by bit as we speak.

Some mechanics have already been (re)made and implemented, some are still in the works, some other things need more work until it's decided that "yeah, it's pretty good as is", just how it usually goes or something like that among these lines.

And after that we added the first few neat things to make this game a bit more lively (if I can call it that...? Especially even since it's still this pretty early in development; not even in pre-alpha! I dunno, we just think they're neat).

Of course, early Baldi AI has been made, and it's pretty unsettling, but we also thought that "yeah, we should also make him especially neat", so... *cough*, I still think things need a bit more work too, *cough*.

Sorry, I dunno what else I can say; I am pretty tired, I shouldn't be writing anything on Saturdays and Sundays. Gosh.

...but, overall, yeah. I guess I can proudly say that the development pace is getting back up, and, even though that things may still be pretty slow, things are actually looking pretty great again so far!

Thanks for checking us out once again! Hopefully we'll get more time to get lotsa more stuff in to show off sometime later for the next entry log.

For now, stay tuned...!

Oh! Hi! We sincerely apologize for the radio silence since the last update... But long story short - we are slowly getting back on track.

Better late than never, I suppose!

Here's a complimentary spinnin' Baldi as a thank you for still standing by.

Baldi's Basics: Back to School - Devlog no.3 - (HOLY CRAP IT'S) DECEMBER(WEEN) 2021

Also - a $15000 fee for reading through 1 million posts in under 24 hours?

Did John Riccitiello come up with that new term of service?

Are you seeing this shit???

LISA MENTIONED

Yeah no, I'm actually growing very fond of Linux, I even installed it on my work/chill laptop I hire-for-purchased recently.

After sharing this on BlueSky and Mastodon, I feel like you Game Jolt folks would like to see it too.

So, have a snippet from the tech-prototype!

Side-scroller to First Person switcheroo, anyone?

(it'll get more interesting from this point onward soon)

*sigh.*

Yeah hi, sorry for the silence! Usual IRL stuff. You know how it is.

While we haven't been doing much as of late, but we do have some tools being made (and still working on them) that can help get this thing going faster in the future.

Merry Christmas!
