Game
Hello, Neighbor! Reborn

been a while, but don't worry, i have news to share!

development is coming along quite nicely. what gives with the lack of posts? well, its mainly because there's a lot of stuff i wanna wait to show you, either in another devlog (which yes is coming) or when the update releases so you can find all the new stuff on your own. plus ive been working on another project with a few people from the hidden spirits dev team, so my free time has been split between that, HNR, and some youtube projects.

i have been wanting to overhaul the gamejolt page for a while, but i am hesistant to do so considering how the new screenshots on the page would not accurately reflect the current state of the game. a few minor things such as missing objects or outdated lighting isn't a HUGE issue, but i feel like showing screenshots from an entirely different project is. imagine you see screenshots taken from the new version of the game, but download it and the game looks NOTHING like the screenshots shown on the page. seems misleading, right?

so to prevent this, i am thinking about taking down the current versions of HNR. both the pre-alpha and alpha 1 are INCREDIBLY outdated, and both have many issues that make them a non-enjoyable experience. id rather give people something to look at while they wait for a better version of the game than give newcomers a bad impression of what HNR is. i built alpha 1 off of the pre-alpha, which of course had many unomptimized coding methods since at the time i didn't really understand what i was doing. i fear the longer i keep these versions up the more likely it is people get put off of the game entirely. and id rather that not be the case. on the bright side, once these versions go down i will update the gamejolt page with awesome new images! so i hope you understand my reasoning.

tomy, a prominent member in my server has taken it upon themselves to archive links to every version of HNR (even pre release builds and pre-alpha 0.1.5 which was up for like 5 minutes). so if you wish to download any of those old versions and play them in the meantime, ill gladly leave the link to them all in the case i take these versions down, which is incredibly likely. i hope you're all doing well.

still not finished yet. still working on getting the sky color and brightness exactly how i want it. but how's it lookin so far?

how do we feel about the new lighting so far..?

bad news guys, the neighbor lost his job so this will be his house next update

(as a sidenote i have personal beef with whoever did the original uv mapping for this house)

or what about this..? (second design i came up with just now cause why not)

new hnr logo :p

was testing out different lightings for fun and im wondering... which of these do we like the best? (5 different lightings with two different angles each so you can compare)

these are not final, im just tryna figure out which direction i should go in

absolute lamp

updated the logo to be a bit darker to fit with the moody atmposphere of the game, what do we think? (old on the right)

re uvmapped all the background houses so they use hn textures which makes them fit the game a bit more. both the roof and the walls can be changed. i was originally gonna remodel all of them which i still might do at some point. but for now im happy.
