BeeStruction Released

It’s been a long semester.

BeeStruction is a project that came out of Game Creation Society, a student-run organization at Carnegie Mellon University devoted entirely to the production of video games over the course of a semester. Game Creation Society provides an educational experience for its members, teaching the process of game design from programming to art to level design.

This project was one of the largest this year, and instantly attracted a lot of attention. We didn’t manage to keep everyone involved, but we got many excellent contributions and ended up making a relatively polished, awesome game. I’d especially like to thank our awesome art team, for drawing all of those high quality sprites and backgrounds. (Unfortunatley they may have been a little too high quality, as our game is the largest I’ve seen on this site.)

The game is a bit short, having only two levels. We wanted to do more, we really did, but we ran out of time. The final boss battle is an indication of where we were going with the game. The next level was going to be set in a city, with the military attempting to destroy your hive. Perhaps we will pick it up again and extend it later, but for now, semester-long project well done!
