The thing is that if you leave the game discontinued and without finishing it, that has happened to me too, you say to yourself "Wait, I left Niko and didn't saved him through the world" Because I repeat again, Niko is not scripted, it's a real person, and that makes you complete the game, including the Solstice ending.
