Beta Version Almost Ready!


Hello as this is my first post I’ll try to add some info on the game. It is of course a space shooter with a locked camera and a set level. The graphics are taken from open game art(a few animations are custom made). The game started with my nephew making me create new ships with guns that he could shoot around with in Unity. Well since then I’ve created a 10 level campaign, following a strict 1 minion(weaker - enemy) level 1 boss level structure.
So now lets get to the good stuff I’ll probably be finished with the beta within the next few days and will have uploaded pictures until then if you are impatient and want to see it now I post a link to my opengamearts forum thread. Fair warning, these pictures are very very alpha compared to the beta and the pics I will release in the next few days:

I think it’s time to give you guys a bit of the story and what you can expect from the beta the story takes us in the future where the of Mars is kidnapped by the Bounty Hunter Association who intend to ransom her back at a very heavy price. In steps young captain Alex, recommended by the king for never failing a mission. Alex manages to infiltrate the prison but is spotted. And this is where our game begins he and Princess Raya try to make their way back to Mars though hordes and hordes of different alien enemyes.
Enough story time for the systems(is that the right word?) that are going to be included in the beta:
Health Bar
Score
Lives (as in all classic space shooters I have given the player 3 lives)
Basic AI for the minions (They chase and shoot you!)
More advanced one for Bosses (Depends on the boss they deal with the player in different ways)
Game Menu
In-Game Menu (just hit that escape key :P)
NPC - One npc so far Princess Raya she gives you vital info as the game goes on!(Not all of the princess Raya scenes will be included in the beta!)
Watch out for random asteroids - they are all over the place.
Animations - more than a few animations are included with the beta, making the game look very alive.
Background music - although there are no sound effects backround music has been added to beta.
12 Amazing Enemy ships - Bosses + Minions throughout the 10 levels (credits for designs, music, coding etc will be incuded in the final version of the game as more of these might be added.)
5 player ships - Captain Alex also gets new ships! (Equipped with more guns and a few energy seeking missile :P)
10 beautiful space backgrounds for every level!

In the next post tomorrow I’ll post the things that won’t make it into the first version of the beta since I’m currently working on them + a few screens.

In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)
