Big update... 1.1.0 out now!

Hi everyone!

Thanks for playing POPGOES Arcade 2020 Edition, and for providing us with your useful feedback. We have a new major update for the game for you that will fix some bugs, add some new small features, and adjust the balancing of things a bit.

Your save progress should continue to this new version. Just save and close your game, delete the original exe, and then play this new update!


Bug fixes:

- Objects in the overworld should now always be layered correctly (in context to Popgoes).

- Picked-up coins and opened chests no longer "leak" into the game when you start a new save.

- The inventory will now reset properly when returning to a save (using Continue) after defeating the final boss.

- Fixed some of Sara's dialogue that spilled out of the text box.

- Credits screen now appears when completing the game at 100%, instead of the game crashing.

- The visual for the shield item during battles will now wobble when hit.

- Chests in the North Forest will now give high-tier items instead of acorns (which actually didn't even appear in the inventory).

- The arcade cabinet's joystick and buttons shouldn't freeze in place when entering or exiting a battle (this was a rare bug, let us know if it still happens!)

New bugs that we will be fixing soon:

Mid-game spoiler:

- It looks like completing a hitlist by defeating enemies will grant you the reward, but it will set the counters back to 0. This is a visual issue that shouldn't affect gameplay.

- It also seems like purchasing an upgrade instead of completing the hitlist will cause some graphical issues with the list itself. Again this is purely visual and we'll be adjusting this in the next build.

- Purchasing Super Speed from BB won't immediately grant you the effects. You'll need to fight one enemy first, and then when you re-enter the overworld, you'll have it.


Changes:

Mid-game spoiler:

- Signs that are near the corruption beams are now more descriptive and obvious.

Near end-game spoiler:

- Using "DIG" in battle will now not only give you a random item, but that item will also be immediately consumed on the same turn.

Final boss spoiler:

- The final boss has been rebalanced significantly as players found him too easy:

- Health has increased from 1,000 to 1,200

- Attack has increased from 50 to 75

- Reflected attacks will now deal 200% of the damage you deal (was just 100%).

- Charged attacks (crits) will now pierce shields (deal 50% damage and destroy the shield item)

- The final boss will not take any damage from the player's spiky shield if using a charged attack.


Additions:

- Added a new screen at the beginning of the game that details important controls and useful info.

- Error screens (missing save file or corrupt save file) will now offer solutions for issues.

Mid-game spoiler:

- Added a new objective after defeating BB that forces the player to visit a shop, to prevent confusion with a side-task.

Mid-game spoiler:

- BB's Black Market will now offer to sell upgrades with coins if hitlists are incomplete after a forest is saved. This is so players can reach 100% even if they have saved a forest and can no longer complete hitlists.

- There is currently a bug with buying the Super Speed upgrade: You need to defeat an enemy in battle before you are given the effects. We'll be fixing this in 1.1.1.

Very heavy spoiler:

- There is now an option to bring the soul of Bonnie Glade back into the game if you have successfully "saved" her from the arcade cabinet. However, the method of doing this is a secret. Figure it out yourselves!

Someone found some bootleg FNAF merch, with a fanmade, original, Popgoes the Weasel render on the packaging. Definitely one of the more obscure Popgoes Promotions I've seen.
