Hey everyone! Happy 10 years of FNAF! I wasn't able to make a proper celebration post as I've been stupid busy this week, but I'd like to show a little appreciation here! I've been a fan of the series since 2014, and continue to be inspired by Scott's amazing work. I will always appreciate FNAF's contributions to the indie gaming world, with its unique atmosphere, tight gameplay, and lovable characters! Also, and this goes without saying, there wouldn't be any Friedrich's without FNAF. Thank you Scott, and Happy 10th Anniversary!!
Anyways, onto the progress update. Friedrich's development has been going pretty well! A lot of what I've been working on has been very cool, but also unfortunately very top secret. However, something I can talk about is the CUSTOM NIGHT CHALLENGES!!
Custom Night Challenges??
Yes! Similar to FNAF4 and many other fangames, Five Nights at Friedrich's will have a Custom Night with 3 togglable challenges, which are modifiers meant to make the gameplay more, well, challenging!
You've already seen one of these in the demo: Perma-Sprinkler!
Perma-Sprinkler
In Five Nights at Friedrich's, if Clara happens to start a fire, you can put it out using the Sprinkler. Unfortunately, this comes at the cost of making every other animatronic move faster!!
In Perma-Sprinkler mode, the Sprinkler is always on, period. As a result, you will have to deal with some souped-up, hyperspeed animatronics. But hey, at least you don't have to worry about Clara, right?
Mad Clara
The second challenge, Mad Clara, was teased earlier this week. This challenge replaces Clara with her edgy alter ego, Mad Clara! Mad Clara works the same as Clara, but instead of starting a fire if left unattended, she just kills you outright!
This means on 20 difficulty, a pizza MUST be made every 10 seconds, with no hope of recovery if you forget. This is especially nasty when paired with Perma-Sprinkler.
(Also, just to clarify, Mad Clara's skin is unique to the challenge. There will not be any other hand-drawn character skins, as redrawing every frame is just way too much work.)
Low-Power Mode
The third challenge, Low-Power Mode, was actually teased nearly 2 months ago, but its existence as a challenge and its mechanics were never really clarified. This challenge shakes up the gameplay quite a bit, as there are actually three main factors to it.
The office is now pitch black, and you can only see within the radius of a flashlight attached to your cursor.
Camera views are darkened, and animatronics are pitch black except for their eyes, severely limiting visibility.
There is no power percentage to worry about. Instead, if you power usage hits 5, your camera and door lasers will lock up until usage returns to 1.
Yeah, this challenge has a lot to it. Limited visibility alongside a tighter restriction on power? It's basically two challenges in one. Whoever designed this is a really mean guy, huh?
Anyways, you can look forward to these nightmarish challenges when the full game releases! How hard do you think 7/20 + All Challenges will be? Will you give it a shot when the game comes out? Or will you watch someone else do it on YouTube so you can see what the reward is? (Trust me, its a good reward)
Alright, I'm gonna go work on the sprites for Invisible Friedrich. Until next time!
