Greetings! Welcome to the second Devlog of the development of Bloxxin Brutal Night! I'm @marianoa2007 (Mari). The Director of the upcoming mod and I'm here to deliver some news and updates regarding the progress
This day is very special because today is March 18th, 2024. In case you didn't know or simply forgot; It's John Doe & Jane Doe Day!
for further context, here is a summary of the event:
In 2017, there was a rumour circulating throughout the internet that if you play Roblox on March 18th, your account will be hacked by John Doe/Jane Doe, who were originally test accounts for the website.
In this devlog, we will focus will be primary on John Doe while also showcasing improvements and new information on certain details!

Even though Guest_666 was and still is the main attraction of the mod, it would have been stupid on my part if I hadn't included him at least majorly in the mod. Essentially, he is the second face of the mod, alongside Guest_666
This character is surprisingly the most difficult to work on, as hard as it may sound. Being vague as possible; the character and the stuff I've been planning to do has been rather complex and it's something I can't do myself alone. I'll expand on this later on but just keep in mind that while he may seem bland and unistering, other qualities will make up for that.
Another interesting thing to mention is that he went through so many changes. For instance; the design itself. Similar to Guest_666, he went through many incarnations until now.

(The older version in the left, while the newer version in the right)
Not only has his design been greatly changed throughout development, but also the implementation of the story. There were so many plotlines and ideas I wanted to do initially but those same ideas either conflicted with others or simply seem way out of my scope. By the time I'm writing about this, I'm still deciding how to implement him in the mod and story perfectly.
Outside of that, there are other things I would like to address while speaking about him:
Question: Will Jane Doe be in the mod?
Answer: Initially, I was going to keep this ambiguous but after thinking about it, I can confidently say that she will be in the mod. but, the question we should be asking is how would she be playing in the story, in which I will keep my lips sealed on
Question: Will he have new mechanics
Answer: yes, but once again, it's something I can't elaborate upon at the moment. I'm not even sure if the mechanics I thought would be added in the final build. The only thing I will say is that he will have some kind of mechanic.
Question: Will March 18th be implemented in the story?
Answer: it is quite an interesting thing to bring up but surprisingly yes. Like the posts, it's something I can't really elaborate upon.
Question: Will there be other 'hackers' alongside John Doe
Answer: No, well I mean yes, but no. Let me Explain
If you take a good look at the current roster of characters, you will notice that all five are fictional characters, and are in fact: not real. However, I believe it becomes way messy when it comes to adding 'real' hackers in the mod.
most people tend to forget the detail that isn't as simple of adding real hackers like Tuber93 or C00lkidd into the mod. Because at the end of the day, they are still hackers, not characters. Except for a few exceptions, I made my mod clear that it doesn't want to involve real people in this mod like developers, YouTubers, and in this case: Hackers. They are not funny cartoonish characters, they are real individuals and I would like to treat them like normal people instead of minimizing their role as just the 'fnf' character from that mod.
Furthermore; while it isn't something we can't control, it has become way harder to trust individuals on the internet. I won't go much in-depth about this but if you had been on the internet for the past 1-5 years, you must have heard a few creators who were exposed doing horrible actions. For instance, if we were going to add a YouTuber like "KonekoKitten" into the mod before the allegations appeared, imagine all that work spent adding him being wasted. Thus, that is why I deliberately chose characters that can be easily separated from the artist. Hackers, in this case, are not that easy.
That said, There will be 'hackers' at the level. Who you may be asking? Well simply enough, Hackers. Not a real-life hacker or personality, just fictional Hackers. This eases the majority of my worries and concerns and this decision doesn't invalidate any hardwork done.
However, I'll say this: I'm open to bending some of my own rules for certain situations. Other than that, that is all I'm willing to discuss about the subject.
Question: Will Jenny be in the mod?
Answer:

(Maybe I'll elaborate on this in the future, for now just no)
And that, ladies and gentlemen (and all in between) is all the info regarding John Doe. It's a very particular character that I believe everyone will most likely enjoy once they see what it holds. I'm if not more exited to show what I got my plans on!

MOD PROGRESS #2: IMPROVEMENTS AND REDOINGS
This Devlog's theme is focused on improvements and redoings throughout the mod, because thruthfully; I've been focusing on fixing and making things way better than before. Even on the things you may never thought or expected to be improved upon! Let's start with the most noturious examples and moving to more interesting details
New sprites
If you happen to put attention on certain things, you must had already figured out that the sprites of certain characters have once again, been modified to some extent. They are still the same but they have new improvements that make them way better than before

If you want a newer and better example of upgradres made by the sprites, then take a look at the new idle sprite for Mr. Pale. Just to give a heads up, he is still needs to be improved a bit more but I believe this rough example demonstrates the thought and care done in this mod.

New Screen Gui/ui
The Graphical User Interferience (Gui/Ui) has been changed a lot throughouht development. While I can't explain why this has been the case for so long, what I can say is that right now I'm happy with current new gui/ui and today I'll like to show you some of that

New Background Artwork
Backgrouds had been always a bit of a weak spot in the early stages of the development, but now I'm starting to get the hang of it. The best example is showcasing the trees of the Guest_666 Level. In the first example, it's obvious it was done within 15-30 minutes without a second revision needed.
While in contrast, not only is the new one way better and represents my crrent art skills, it also shows a bit of complexity such as the layers and how nice each tree blends.

(Old artwork for the background of Guest_666 Level)

(Newer artwork for the same level, it's subject for change)
There are other examples of this but unfortunately they cross the line of spoilers, which for now I'm going to keep it hidden until further notice. But this should give a good idea of how much refurbishment has been made to make the mod more clean and good looking!
But wait! Before you start thining this update doesn't bring anything new
THINK AGAIN!

NEW ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
After all that information provided, now I'll give brand new information about the mod such as changes or new additions made into the mod!
First news but unfortunate news that everyone must know. That being while I was working on this mod a couple weeks ago, I made the executive decision to scale down the size of the mod. I knew that most of the stuff I wanted to add were too much ambicious so I scale down to add things that should be 'possible' to do
I won't get into the details but certain ideas had been decreased or flatout removed. some characters were reduced to simply cameo/feature characters, even one being removed from the mod. Lastly, the story has been simplified to have a more simplier but effective narrative.
However, in the brightside, I have very VERY exiting news!
FEW CHARACTERS HAD BEEN ADDED INTO THE MOD
During the past couple of months, I've been in talk with some creators and I'm happy to say that some will be included into the mod. I'm confident that the characters added will fit perfectly with the roster and be good representives of the history of Robox. There is one more creator I'm hoping to get in contact but other than that, I believe these should be the final ones being added. We are just a few characters away before it becomes 'bloated' so hopefully everything turns out good and nothing wrong happens
The other important news is that starting very soon...
I'll be recruiting people to help out with the mod!
For the longest time, I've been working on this project solo. But, if I want this project being remotely done, I have to be open and work with other individuals to make this project a reality.
Just to give context: I never run a team of this type before, furthermore; this occasion is very VERY scary because there has been multiple times were mods completely went to scrumbles because of controversy. Thus, I made it my goal to make it the safest it can possibly be.
I'll post more updates about this in the following weeks (hopefully) to see how well that goes and once I have a proper team, I'll make a new post showcasing and explaining each member helping out with the project.

Conclusion
Thank you to whoever read throughout the Devlog. It means a lot to whoever who gave this post a chance and got the chance to see the progress I've done for the mod so far! Thus, if you are intrigguied: I welcome to anyone who wants to keep up with the project.
Until the next time, see you guys on the flipside! 👋
