As a child, he was an outcast for being different. He’s smart but also reckless about his actions. In 2016, he dropped out of Midtown Junior High, because of Flash’s bullying… leading him to illegal bot-fights. In the beginning, he pretended to be an innocent little kid who has no idea what’s he doing, but during the fight, he reveals that he knew what he was doing all along, hustling Big Man out of his money. He won, but that caused him into trouble as if Big Man orders his thugs to beat the living out of Brandon. Thankfully, however, Christopher (Brandon’s father) showed up to save his life. But that also caused them to get arrested along with everyone else involved with the event. Later during the night, Christopher convinces his son to stop it with his bot-fighting obsession and insists he put his intelligence to better use, recommending HTA (Horizon Technology Station). He didn’t quite understand it at first, as if he scoffs at the idea, jokingly noting the pointlessness of the effort and makes an attempt to join another bot fight as his ample winnings from his previous victory had been confiscated by the police. Christopher apparently ‘gives up’ and asks if he can give him a ride, but ends up taking him to the academy; just for another way to convince his son to join the academy. Relenting to his father's wishes, Brandon meets his father's closest students: Jasmine (a popular girl and chemistry expert), Phil (a hyperactive fanboy with a love of comics and video games), and Velma (a shy yet kind and sweet young nurse to be). Amazed withholding the students used their technology to create a new civilization, he confesses his burning desire to join the academy. A day later in the morning, he created microbots to please the headmasters to enroll him as his gift. And that night, he did it! He got accepted to the academy! But suddenly, the school's fire alarm goes off, prompting Brandon & Christopher to investigate. Upon arrival, they find the Showcase Hall in flames. They run into a random student fleeing the blaze who tells them that Professor Octavius is still inside. Christopher attends to save Octavius, but Brandon stops him, silently urging him to think about the situation. After a moment's consideration, Christopher insists, claiming that someone has to help. Not seconds after he rushes into the building, the fire reaches its peak and the facility violently explodes. The explosion ‘killed’ him (and presumably Octavius). After losing his beloved father to a fiery explosion, grief-stricken Brandon Epperson vowed to use his incredible abilities to protect the city-state of Sakuramento (Not to be confused with Sacramento, California) as the Spectacular Spider-Wolf. His trials taught him an invaluable lesson: "With great power, there must also come great responsibility."
