Changing the Technology of a Piñata

Hi everyone 0/

Today was a busy day for me and I’m taking a break to update you in some changes that the game is going by as part of the ongoing planning process (Check recent post for more info)… also I made a quick sketch for the post because recent post have too much text jajaja.

I’m changing the game engine that I’m using to develop Human Piñata which means I’m moving from Gdevelop to Unity, why is this important you may ask well here are a few reasons:

  • Dynamic sound is really important for the experience I’m designing and Gdevlop extension for audio is quite limited and I think a software like Wwise will help me work better with the sound designer and also they can directly make the implementaion.

  • During the design process that I’m currently doing I realized that the game can benefice from motion controls so I applied and was accepted in Nintendo’s developer program which is the first step to have the opportunity to launch the game in one of their consoles and using Unity will make easier my life if in the future I’m able to deliver the game in the Nintendo Switch or any other console that can offer me motion controls.

  • I feel like Gdevelop is a game engine orientated to education more than making commercial games which is the opposite of my goal so I believe that Unity has the focus I need.

While putting the design pieces together I have been prototyping in Unity and I didn’t wanted to announce this until I was sure that I can have the procedural system that Human Pinata needs and last week I finished a satisfactory prototype. So I still need to do some more prototypes but the hardest one is done and that gives me confidence that I can code the rest of core systems.

Also I realized that I need an animator for the characters so in the next days once I finish the game design I have to start looking for one so If you know someone that may be interested in working on animations for the game tell them to contact me ;). I’ll post a formal job announcement in the right place once I’m ready anyway.

That’s everything for now, Thanks for following the game it means the world to me <3 (I noticed the new followers and the likes you leave on the posts ^_^/ )

Until Next Time!

Tic... toc... tic... toc... Sorry for the lack of updates, you will know soon the reason. Bye,

Chiaki Nanami!

Shoobies leave a sticky trail of mucus in their wake, which can impede movement for any creature that steps in it.

We made a lot of improvements on the Freezing Plains visual. Things like pine trees, tiny bushes, some rocks, and others game props!
