Phantasm Modern Sonic "Residue-Up!" is a mix of: a memory of the Bad Ending
from the past (original game: FNaS 3) that got stuck in the Protagonist head once
Silent "Player-On!" played the game. And a reference with hers current continually game, that she is dealing with, to not let anything bad happen in: Fierce Forces.

He would be the spirit of Modern Sonic "Reversion-Up!", but Silent "Avatar-On!" prevented the Bad Ending from happening in Five Nights at Sonic's 3:
Insane Immerse "Route of Recollect", because it would be a game over for her as well (she didn't know yet, that Dr. Golden "Prepare-Up!" has planned, that once she was caught, it would be a permanent game over).

Silent has taken and saved the Night Guard, for Modern Sonic "Reversion-Up!" to become later: Sentinel Martial Artist Sonic in Fierce Forces.

The apparition only appears in her dreams, when she fights for survival against Salvage Sonic "Gory-Up!" which he is Silent's worst fear and nightmare even in the Protagonist's normal dreams.

Even though Phantasm Modern Sonic "Residue-Up!" is only her vision, he's also a reminder.

That Silent has the power to change a fate (in game of course and in dream).
