Catalog
A brand-new catalog has been added, with various items, such as new gear, titles, banners and emotes, as well as card packs, Crab-N-Go tickets, and mystery boxes. The ability to scroll through your catalog in-game and see what it has in it has also been added, which is highly convenient as you'd only be able to do that via Splatnet 3 or on websites such as Inkipedia.
Shell-Out Machine
With that, there should also be a new set of seasonal titles and banners available from the Shell-Out Machine. They don't appear to be known yet,* but I shall try to update you where possible. You also shouldn't be too worried if you missed out on the "Super-Duper Lucky | Lucky Duck" titles or the banner shown below. According to Inkipedia, "these banners and titles will continue to be available via the gacha machine once any given season has ended." So I guess I kinda wasted my time staying up late at night trying to get the banner.**
There is a 0.3% chance of getting the titles, and a 0.1% chance of getting the banner. So you'd have to blow a lot of your money to try get these, but at least you now have a lot of badges to show for it, which involve spending ridiculous amount of cash on it and hitting the jackpot, which I assume is getting a sparkly capsule, a certain amount of times.
*EDIT: LeanYoshi, a dataminer on Twitter, has confirmed the Seasonal Banner and Titles.
The titles are "Super-Rare | Protected Species", and this is the banner:
**EDIT: LeanYoshi also says that the Banner and title from the Drizzle Season will not return until next year. I probably should have checked WOOPSIES!!!!! Also LeanYoshi says the Jackpot refers to getting a title or banner.
Gear
If you don't want to use up your cash on the Shell-Out Machine, you can always check out the shops for gear. There over 50 new and returning pieces of gear that have been added. New pieces of gear include the Scrum Cap from Forge and the Tentaclinger Earring from Toni Kensa, and returning ones include the Skull Bandana from Forge and the Gold Hi-Horses from Zink, which are loved by fans.
Weapons
Many new weapons have been added, too! There are three new, original additions to the weapon library, as well as 10 extra weapon variants. Yes, new kits are here at last!
This is the Splattershot Nova, a new shooter type which aims to be more accurate than other shooters. It is similar to the Splattershot Pro, but has a faster firing rate and deals lower damage. It features Point Sensors and the Killer Wail 5.1.
The new member of the roller family is the Big Swig Roller, armed with Splash Walls and the Ink Vac. Imagine what the combination between the inkage of the Dynamo and Flingza Rollers and the low weight of the Splat or Carbon Rollers. This is what you would get. The Big Swig has a very long flick distance, and a wide rolling range. But you also move quickly with it, and it is very ink-efficient. But, like the Carbon Roller, it cannot instantly crush an opponent.
Finally, we have a new and unique charger known as the Snipewriter 5H. It looks quite like a pencil, so the Ballpoint Splatling perhaps has a friend now. Equipped with Sprinklers and the Tacticooler, this charger fires shots that deal, at a full charge, 60 damage – storing up to five of them. These shots can also be fired in great succession, so the Snipewriter best not be underestimated. It has a charge-up time similar to the Splat Charger, and a range similar to an E-Liter 4K.
There are also lots of new weapon variants to accompany these three, including the Aerospray RG, the Custom Splattershot Jr., and many more that you can pick up at Ammo Knights right now! And if you spent a bit of time last season boosting weapon freshness to get Sheldon Licenses, and are at least level 30, maybe you can purchase them all!
Stages
Another couple of things that have been added are new and returning stages. Two stages have been added to the battle modes. They are Flounder Heights, a stage that returned from the first game, and Brinewater Springs, a visually stunning stage based on traditional Japanese architecture.
Salmon Run has also been gifted with another map. Marooner's Bay returns from Splatoon 2, and features a gimmick involving platforms that can be moved by launching ink at fans.
X-Battles
X-Battles have now been added in Splatoon 3! These become available to anyone who has a rank in Anarchy Battles of at least S+0. You rank down a little bit when a new season begins, so you're going to have to boost your rank that little bit more if you want to play them. They also will have a different schedule to Anarchy Battles, and will function similarly to in Splatoon 2. There will also be two divisions based on the region you're in. The Takoroka Division covers Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand, while the Tentatek Division covers Europe and the Americas.
Big Run
Big Run is finally on its way! This event is similar to a Splatfest, but the joy and cheer is replaced with terror and fear, as Salmonids try taking over battle mode stages, and Inklings and Octolings must defend them. Games of Salmon Run will be held on those stages. The first Big Run is scheduled for next weekend, and will take place on Wahoo World.
Participants will recieve a Cohozuna locker decoration, and those who do very well will get bronze, silver, or even gold ones!
Also, in regular Salmon Run, you're able to set up Job Senarios based on previous Salmon Run games you did. They're playable as private battles and can be found at the Grizzco Terminal.
Other
There are also other new features and items, such as almost 50 new Locker Customizations, TableTurf Battle cards, and the ability to fold some clothing items in your locker. You also have the ability to use Photo Mode on Recon. The Splatnet 3 App also has a new Wandercrust journey available.
There are many things that are available in the Chill Season, so do enjoy it! The Chill Season lasts until March 2023, which from there, another new season with new features, weapons, maps, modes, gear, and various other things will be introduced!
