The Columbus Cottonmouths used to be a team that played in the CHL from 1996-2001, the ECHL from 2001-2004, and the SPHL from 2004-2017, when the third franchise had suspended operations after failing to find a new owner, the franchise was then bought not so long later and moved the team to Birmingham, Alabama. Becoming the Birmingham Bulls for their Inaugural season in October of 2017.
