Hey guys.
… What? …
… Come on, don’t look at me like that …
Fine. I’m sorry.
Please read this whole thing. It’s VERY important.
Let’s address the elephant in the room: All the nitty-gritty behind the choice of cancelling Five Nights at Chipper’s. To figure out the end, first we must go back to the beginning.
It all started with searching for fan art of Chipper and Sons Lumber Co. The game was my recent obsession, I fell in love with its charm and Scott’s ever present humor. The modeling aspect of the fan art seemed lacking though, so I challenged myself to model Big Bruce, the animatronic that jumpscares you in the playable teaser (Pro tip: DON’T google search his name without including “chipper and sons” in the search). I fell in love with my little withered model and thought it would be cool to model the FNAF1 office, except in a Chipper and Sons style. It was then I decided to make a game out of it.
Here’s a huge tip for all game developers: Only make a page for your game once a sizable amount of content has already been created, and you have a good grasp on when you want to release it.
This game’s GameJolt page started with the office as a teaser, as well as a crappily photoshopped Big Bruce head on some static saying some dumb shit like “You didn’t forget about me, did you Scott?” A big dream of mine was that hopefully one day Scott would see my game and play it. But I soon realized that it was a huge undertaking, and slowly stopped working on it.
That was, until I saw the amount of support the GameJolt page was getting.
Stuff like that doesn’t do wonders to your ego.
I felt invincible, and started crafting the story I would tell via this game. I thought I was pretty clever. I thought this game would reach the eyes of people like IULITM and the like. Clearly it wasn’t meant to be.
So I kept lying to myself and to you guys, thinking I could accomplish such an undertaking. A very foolish and unsuccessful venture. It came to the point where I HAD to cancel it, before it got 500 followers. I had to let my fans down, i might as well make sure there were as few as possible.
My lack of knowledge of game development and overall busyness prevented me from working on the game all by myself. I had no experience, and it was silly of me to think I could just be a fast learner.
So what have I been working on instead? My own content. My original characters. I’ve been trying to gain a following for my artwork, and gain some popularity. Perhaps even make a career out of it. So i started a Patreon, which I’ll leave a link to at the end of this DevLog. Most of the art on there is free to look at, without a Patreon account. But the really good stuff (and yes, even lewd stuff) I charge a small amount of money for. I only charge per artwork, so a patreon wouldn’t have to shell out money monthly even if i wasn’t producing anything. I also have a deviantArt and twitter, but I don’t post my professional stuff there.
So that’s the story. I’m sorry I let everyone down. But honestly, this game wasn’t very good in the first place. Now that I’m free from its chains however, I can create so much more exciting and awesome content. So I ask for all of the devote fans of this page (aka, those that read this whole thing), to support me in my future endeavors. I promise I won’t let you down. I have grown.
First Exciting New Content Announcement!
You know the creator of the FNAF fangame series known as “Final Nights”, JeliLiam? Yeah well, I’m collaborating with him on an exciting new original horror game known as “Somber”. You can view the game’s page by following this link : http://gamejolt.com/games/somber/207403
Now it’s time for something even cooler
Second Exciting Announcement!
I’m releasing all the Five Nights at Chippers files as a DropBox file. If you wish to continue what I couldn’t finish, download the files, or make your own, and let me know what your plans are. Credit me or not, I don’t care at this point. Although it’s worth mentioning …
The entire story of my game is including in this dropbox link
So if you’d like to know the story and the gameplay, it’s worth a look, as well as seeing all the extras I’ve thrown in, from the development process.
Something worth noting however, is that all the models are Maya files. If you don’t have Maya, you’ll have trouble converting the files
So that’s all. Thank you for reading all of this, it shows you’re over the age of 10 unlike the majority of GameJolt. Below are the links to my Patreon, DeviantArt, Twitter, and the DropBox where you can access all the Chipper files. i offer services doing a wide variety of different kinds of art, which you can learn more about on the Patreon and DeviantArt links.
