In my opinion, ever since Steel Wool took over, the franchise has been declining. It lacks the spark that FNaF once had. It feels too targeted toward children rather than teens, which I donโt like. The storyline itself seems confusing and inconsistent. When you compare modern FNaF to other mascot horror games, it ends up feeling similar, except that FNaF has its unique animatronics.
Iโm not saying that FNaF is bad; itโs still enjoyable, but I believe it hasn't reached its full potential. I did enjoy Security Breach because it offered a great gameplay experience, especially with its free-roam direction. However, the direction of the lore feels lackluster. While The Mimic is an interesting and new villain, it doesnโt quite capture the same mystery that William Afton did.
Secret of the Mimic does look promising, though, especially with all its marketing.
