I'm going to start out by saying CuBeat was a more realistic starter project of mine that I wanted to see become publicly available. My previous Unity projects have been way over my head and have taken an insane amount of time to build, and I just lost motivation.
CuBeat is not that. It's been functional and a work in progress. I've been busy revamping a bunch of things and re-planning my approach towards it. I've stumbled upon a large issue that I will be mentioning in a bit.
The important part is that CuBeat will be returning. There will be a playable game, and I'm making attempts to create a WebGL demo when released so users can try before a download.
A huge issue however has been music. CuBeat is meant to be a rhythm game, one with an editor and many levels unofficial. I wanted to use a service to help avoid issues with levels for others. Audiosurf is a good example of what I am talking about: You can generate a level based off local files, but since CuBeat plans on having a much larger variety of customization, and the days of local music is fading with streaming services, I wanted accessibility.
If anyone could direct me to a possible service to allow music usage without a user account, legal for games, and allows API usage, I would greatly appreciate it. It would further development along a lot.
The game will not be coming back out soon. It still has a lot of things to be worked on, and I'm only in the start of the revamp process. I have big plans and new additions. Some I will hint at is multiplayer and major level customization options.
I hope to see you soon.
