Day 159: Today was… well… Monday. And it might be shocking but starting the graphics sprint was not at all appealing to me. I’m not good at this, and I don’t like it. So yeah you guessed it it wasn’t a really productive day. Oh and this week end I was with my family for Easter. While it was fine and that I got some nice chocolate, it was still energy draining.
Daily interesting stuff:
Reddit post about graphics programming. The post in itself isn’t so great. But it made me look into what salary I could expect given my country/experience. And it’s not that great. If I get the low end, it’ll be complicated to find an apartment to rent (in France you need to earn 3x the rent amount).
Interview of Tim Schafer. It was funny and informative. A bit long, but still worth a read.
Tasks done:
Planned the sprint. This was a fairly short task. All I have to do for this sprint is to “try to make the game less ugly”. I divided it into the graphics for the rooms and the graphics for the ships. But then I added stuff that has nothing to do with this sprint. But it stills need to be done before showing the game this weekend. Stuff like buying bus tickets to Lyon.
Someone opened an issue on my git repository! That was weird to have someone actually download my code. It was a simple error that happens when you don’t have a correct save file. The solution is just to delete the save file, and to launch the main menu scene before everything else.
Did a spell check on all the game text. And I did for both French and English. It was soooo tedious. But it really needed to be done. There were some obvious mistakes, and I’m’ glad they’re not in the game anymore. Even though I’m sure there’s still some errors in there.
Checked my budget. Since I’m not having any rent help since January, it’s costing me more money now. But I’m still around my estimation. I hope that by the end of the project, it doesn’t gets too low. But anyway, I should be glad to have enough money to do this project without having to worry on having funds to eat. I just hope it won’t take too much time to find a job after that.
