Day 163: Today I remembered how boring content work can be… It’s soooo slow. But that’s all I have left, and it should improve the game greatly, so I kinda have to do it. But that won’t stop me from ranting here.
Daily interesting stuff:
Curious cat page of Rami Ismail. I might have post this already, but today he added a whole bunch of answered question. I’m realizing it sounds like I’m a fanboy. But I just happen to often find that what he says is interesting that’s all. (But I do have a friend that’s a real fanboy).
Reddit post about answering frequent newbie questions. It was the top post today, so I thought I would share it. I like the “Nothing matters just make a goddamn game, you’re gonna fail anyway”.
Tasks done:
Worked on the new Tileset. I thought I was done with it, and that I could start replacing the old one. But it turned out that the shadows were all wrong… The corners were so odd. So I redid them. It took way too long. But The result is really cool. I also took the opportunity to rearrange the tileset. It’s easier to use now.
Used the new tileset in the test room. It took me a long time to get used to it. There’s a lot of things to figure out, mostly because of those pesky corners. But I ended up with a decent result, so I went on to the next task.
Thought my room collider detection tool was broken. That was a bummer. I had to fix that tool quite a few time already. But it turned out, that it simply was the prefab that wasn’t updated. So I was seeing the old colliders.
Started replacing the old tileset. When I woke up this morning, I thought, “hey it would be nice to replace the tilset in the first zone today”. Hahahahaha, I’m so so so far away from that. I did a grand total of eight rooms. And there’s a hundred rooms in the first zone… This a tedious, boring, painfully long task. But I’m going to do it anyway. Over the next days, it will be only thing that I’ll do. So the logs are going to be short. Just like this one. Because, you see, it takes me a whole lot of time to do a simple small room, and unfortunately it’s really short to summarize it here… So yeah, the end.
