Day 17:

Systems & Code:

Object Interaction System: Players can now press the interact key while facing objects to trigger environment descriptions or narration – Completed.

Optimized Scripting: Implemented custom variables for scene transitions and dialogue triggers, allowing them to be set easily in the inspector without writing new code – Completed.

Text Input System: Created a prompt system where the player can manually type text answers/passwords to solve puzzles or answer questions – Completed.

Cinematic Camera System: Implemented a multi-camera setup for cutscenes, allowing the view to zoom, pan, and switch focus between different characters seamlessly – Completed.

Cutscene Automation: Integrated animation signals directly into the dialogue system, allowing complex character movements and actions to sync perfectly with text – Completed.

Cutscene Locking & Edge-Cases: Created logic to prevent players from moving during dialogue and fixed sequence-breaking (e.g., preventing the player from re-triggering cutscenes by walking backward) – Completed.

Art & World Building:

First Player Home Expansions:

Corridor (Featuring custom classic painting art) – Completed.

Kitchen – Completed.

UI & Portraits Refinement: Redesigned the dialogue text box (custom black with yellow edges) and completely re-scaled all character portraits to perfectly fit the game's low resolution without distortion – Completed.

Character Animations: Upgraded core characters from static front-facing sprites to full 4-directional walking animations – Completed.

Complex Cinematic Sprites: Created dozens of custom, frame-by-frame animation sprites for a multi-character encounter (including group poses, characters walking at varying speeds, dynamic action/combat frames, and dramatic exits) – Completed.

Gameplay & Content:

Introductory Sequence: The fully playable morning routine (waking up, talking to mom, exploring the house, and leaving for the city) – Completed.

First Major World Event: A heavily scripted, multi-staged encounter on the road to school featuring a gang of rival characters, complete with dynamic action and branching dialogue reactions – Completed.

Total Playtime: The game currently has approximately 8-10 minutes of fully playable, polished content (if the player interacts with everything).
