Day 3

It’s day three of #adventurejam, and I have the first half of the game done!

Of course, that doesn’t include fleshing out the story with any optional content. If all I get done is the primary storyline, at least it will be playable when the jam ends.

The “LucasArts philosophy” of adventure games says the player should never die or reach a dead-end. For playing long games, I really appreciate this choice. For short gamejam games, I understand using dead-ends as a narrative device, because the game’s length might only be 10 minutes maximum. Forcing a player to replay that 10 minutes isn’t too egregious as to be unfair. My game will include some of these dead-ends as part of the narrative.

I’m going to try to make those pathways very short, and incredibly apparent.

In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)

Demonstration of the spells and their effects :)!

Spaaaace~

These are background sprites I've created for a game I'm working on at school ^w^ Click on the post to see how the sprites connect. You won't regret it! (personally, I think it's pretty heheh)
