Originally it was supposed to be a formless being with the ability to shape-shift to a certain degree of quality, as it was only able to form some parts of it's target's body, ending up with missing limbs and incomplete organs.
The new version, shown on the 2nd image, is it's new "true form". I felt like it would be interesting if he was an anomalous Mewtwo all along. While it has basically the same aspects as the original Elchmann, it's not formless anymore, and it makes use of ditto genes in order to change it's appearance. It's just not capable of properly doing so.
Lore-wise I haven't made anything else yet, because I'm not quite sure if this change really works lol.
