While briefly mentioned in an earlier blog post, we dive deeper today in Mean’s mystery love interest, Candy.
Creator Logan Branjord drew inspiration for Candy from the girlfriends for mobsters found in casino/gangster movies. Logan explains that all heroes have a love interest, and Candy is Mean’s ultimate love. She is charming, independent, and easy to connect with, which is why so many people around her fall in love with her. It’s also these traits which has led her to be connected with crime.
Candy has found herself attached to Spritzel, a big time financial criminal, and is comfortable where she is, though Mean is willing to fight for her to be by his side and his side only. Candy wouldn’t be described as a loyal person. She does what she needs to do to take care of herself and has no regrets with what she does. Candy always putting herself first may be one of the reasons that Mean loves Candy since he has had to live the same way.
Logan hopes that in the future Candy can detach herself from Spritzel and his henchmen, and move away from a life of crime. Perhaps one day, Candy could have a change of heart, and be loyal by Mean’s side…
