Hey, everyone! I didn't think that I'd be able to write anything for this month, but I do have enough content to warrant putting into a progress update.
This progress update is gonna have a lot of info in it, but I won't delve into anything too spoilery. Of course, if you want to stay fully ignorant of what the game will have in the next sections, then do not read any further.
So, in terms of general progression, I'd probably like to say that around 60% of section 2 is done. December was dedicated to making Peaceful Rest Valley and writing new mechanics for the section, while last month was dedicated to Happy Happy Village and polishing what I had done so far. I wasn't as far in HHV compared to PRV at the end of the month, but I can show some cool screenshots from this period of development.
If I had to interpret how everything in the section has progressed, I'd say...
Section 2: Earthbound - 60%
Peaceful Rest Valley - 95%
Happy Happy Village - 75%
Lilliput Steps Cavern - 5%
Section boss - 0%
I'm hoping that section 3 doesn't take as long to develop as this one, since it won't require as much asset creation as here. I've said what the section is already outside of Game Jolt, but for the unaware, it will be covering my own interpretation of the Underfell AU, which I've told through an animation series on my YouTube channel. It'll be taking place in the Snowdin part of the game, and will contain content that I haven't even developed very far in the actual series. That should be really cool.
Speaking of really cool, @TheFamiliarScoot , who is the assistant developer for the game, has been working on something really cool. So at this current time, there isn't any real easy way to translate and localize the game's script. In order to make any playable translation, you have to track down every string in each part of code, and in every scene, and then translate it properly. There was actually a spanish translation of the game that did exactly this.
But of course, there needs to be an easier way to do this. Luckily, Scoot decided enough is enough and went to work on a localization system. Of course, since it's her work, I can't really speak on the matter of it, so I'll let her tell you how it's so great instead.
A long-running question in the DELTATRAVELER Discord Server has been: "How do I translate this game?" Usually the answer results in "Use dnSpy" or something like that...
But, mod no longer! We're going to be introducing LANGUAGE PACKS! Language Packs allow you to modify the script to your heart's content - whether it be to another language or just a dumb shitpost. You can also modify sprites that have text content - such as the FIGHT, ACT, ITEM, MERCY and MAGIC buttons. The Options menu should contain a UI that'll let you select a pack for yourself. We'll have a Unity project on GitHub with a template to build your own pack, which includes the English script for the game. More info will be revealed soon enough...

One last thing before I slunk back into either developing this game or being thrown back into the depths of college hell, since it's taking a lot longer to make this section than I thought it would, I might as well reveal one of the original songs made for this section. I was originally gonna reveal this in a video when I finished section 2, but I might as well do it now.
LazyGales offered to make a couple of tracks for this section, and one of them is a unique battle theme when fighting most normal enemies. I decided last minute to have a unique, Earthbound-esque/SNES battle theme for this section, since mixing in other Earthbound battle themes in with the normal Deltatraveler one would be kinda weird.
