Hey, everyone! I have a few things that I want to talk about regarding the game, so I'm gonna do that. I have enough to talk about this month, but next month might be different. Keep in mind that these updates aren't a guaranteed thing.
Before I say anything, you might've noticed the new game thumbnail and new style of header for this post. It was created by @jevilhumor , who offered to make it after helping create an asset for Section 2. This was incredibly nice of him to do, and I encourage you to follow him on Twitter to see more of his cool art.
Section 2 Progress
First of all, for those that have wanted to see what Section 2 is gonna be like, I gave Undertale/Deltarune speedrunner Shayy a preview build of DELTATRAVELER Section 2 to play on stream, and he posted a couple of videos regarding it onto his YouTube channel. Go give those a watch, and maybe even catch him live on Twitch if you want.
Regarding progress on the actual section since last time, I haven't done too much in terms of creating. Everything that I've done this past month has been in the realm of polishing. I suppose some notable changes include autosaving before a tough boss (including Flowey), turn order changes (spare always happens after acts/items/magic), and some more tedious work on the village.
Section 2: Earthbound - 65%
Peaceful Rest Valley - 95%
Happy Happy Village - 85%
Lilliput Steps Cavern - 5%
Section boss - 0%
At this current time, there isn't a set release date on when it'll come out. But I can say that the next major update will contain Section 2 and Hard Mode. Speaking of...
HARD MODE
The first half of this month was dedicated to Section 2 work, while the second half of this month was dedicated to Hard Mode. What started out as a joke in the DELTATRAVELER Discord has become something that I think is special in its own right. I don't wanna say much about it, but I hope y'all give it a chance when it comes out with Section 2. Just a disclaimer: Hard Mode will ONLY be Section 1.
To access it, name yourself "FRISK" when creating a new file when it comes out.
Future Sections
As I've said before, Section 3 is my interpretation of the UNDERFELL AU (GG!UNDERFELL), which you can watch in this playlist. And aside from the first two, as well as Section 8, which will be unique to DELTATRAVELER, the topic of Sections 4-7 haven't been announced publicly. Originally, I thought it would be fun to leave them be a mystery, because that might be fun. But of course, that caused a whole influx of speculation akin to Super Smash Bros. fighter speculation about which games or which AUs will get represented in my game, many of them being games or AUs that I've never played or even heard of.
I just thought I'd say that you shouldn't get your hopes up. The section topics have already been decided upon, and all of them were chosen without much regard for how they'd fit in. I selected them because I thought they'd be fun to experiment with and try to recreate faithfully while making them as engaging as I can make them. After all, this is a personal project that I made for fun. Do remember that I only made this game because of the "KRIS WHERE THE HELL ARE WE" meme. If your favorite game doesn't make it in, I'm sorry. In the future, I will be a bit more transparent about future sections in general.
In the DELTATRAVELER Discord server, I have a list of deconfirmed section topics that have been asked about frequently. I'll go ahead and post the list here.
