Detecting

Crocodiles have black dots all over their body called "pressure receptors" on their skin (but especially their jaws) that allow them to detect tiny movements in the water — even a single drop falling nearby or the most slight disturbance in pressure or flow. They spread their legs and tail out to get the most detections as possible. Alligators only have them on their jaws.
