Dev Break Time? OVER! Time to work on 1.9.7!
{LIVE PROGRESS REPORT}


Hey, Travelers!~

I'm back from my small vacation from the dev world, with brand new ideas for the next bit of content. While many of those ideas will be spaced out throughout the production of this game, there's still plenty to see in the upcoming 1.9.7 update!

This being said...I know a lot of you aren't on Trello, the website/app I use to show real-time progress as I work on the game. So, I'll extend the 1.9.7 realtime progress to GameJolt as well! With every new addition to the update, whether its bug fixes, new glitches, item quantity changes, dialogue tweaks, additional cutscenes...etc...I will make sure to not only update Trello, but this page right here as well.


BUT WHY?

Well...1.9.7 will be the last demo update before we move into Early Access! That's right, you heard me, Early Access! I will be explaining what's so different between the Aurum Demo version and Early Access at some point this month, but as with most games, I'm sure you can take a guess as to what that entails.


  • First and foremost...MORE CUTSCENES!

  • Carrasco Inn's lighting/shading levels have been readjusted.

  • Carrasco Inn's passability settings have been fixed.

  • Carrasco's Inn now functions as a rest spot.

  • Added dialogue to the multiple NPCs in Carrasco.

  • Talking to the Chicken in Carrasco no longer gives you max units or BP.

  • Changed the name of Carrasco's Bar.

  • Updated the Save scenes with the newer game title.

  • You can now buy from the bartender in the Brimstone Bar.

  • Removed the artwork for a removed character.

  • Currently working on the Warehouse, at 80%.

  • Completely reworked a shop in Otnemarcas!

  • Updated Otnemarcas tileset for streets.

  • Changed the Brimstone's shop background.

  • Changed the font for chapter cards.

  • Changed the background for chapter cards.

  • Changed the chapter card transition.

  • Added new background sounds.

  • Added new SFX.

  • Added three new NPC in Otnemarcas.

  • Added KeyItem:Lottery Ticket

  • Added sprites for Flint.

  • (Continuing work in Food Court (K Street), lighting and shading next.)

  • Fixed an issue with an NPC blocking the walkway on J and 11th.

  • Fixed a notification timing issue on J Street upon arrival.

  • Fixed an issue where the bank on J Street would give out free money.

  • Fixed an issue with some door events.

  • Fixed an issue with the player moving out of bounds by entering the elevator on the 3rd Floor of Otnemarcas's Hotel.

  • Added several new common events meant for future chapter calls.

  • Added Switch367:CanStayAtHotel

  • Deleted Map95:UNUSED

  • Added Map173:DEV_STUDIOAPT

  • Added Map359:Backroom

  • Added Map360:L_STREET

  • Added shading/lighting for L Street.

  • Optimized multiple image files.

  • Optimized a few tilesets.


OCTOBER UPDATES

  • Started reworking the Vendor Hall.

  • Reworked Floor 3 of the Otnemarcas Hotel.

  • Changed the walls of the Hotel Room.

  • Updated the flooring of the Convention Center.

  • Began reworking the Viewing Room.

  • Added new character sheet for Otnemarcas characters in specific poses. (1 so far)

  • Added new character file - Quinn

  • Added new character sprite - Mayfield

  • Continued cutscene work

  • Time now stands still when in the middle of dialogue.


NOVEMBER UPDATES

  • Tweaked the "Hidden Room".

  • Updated Lighting/Shading in Map113.

  • Altered some cutscenes.

  • Deleted old dialogue that is no longer accurate in lore.

  • Fixed an offset sprite, "SpellTeacher".

  • Fixed a crash with the events after the Secret Room.

  • Finally added in the second Tournament...wait...second?

  • Currently working on the story-based first tournament.

  • Added a new cutscene.

  • Changed Nathan's sprite.

  • Changed WDF member sprites.


DECEMBER UPDATES

  • Base code for lottery tickets is now inputted into the game!

  • Added the ability to check "Final Report" in the Gateway.

  • Added three new SFX files.

  • Fixed a bug where butterflies were set as "=1" variable rather than +1" variable, thus making the butterfly trophy unobtainable.

  • Updated lighting/shading in Food Court.

  • Updated lighting/shading in the Woodbury Library.

  • Added two new cutscene rooms for future use.

  • Fixed some tileset passage bugs.

  • (currently updating the tunnels scene, rewriting is almost done, just need to add more actions of actor pawns)

  • The Quest "School's Out" has been fully included.

  • Tweaked the Bridge Builder quest.

  • Beds now give you the option of rest in the Resting Quarters (Gateway).

  • Added several new "face" files.

  • Updated main character sprites.

  • Sullivan's hair reflects color difference in texboxes now.

  • Stylized multiple face files.

  • Added music "Unusual Calm WIP".

  • Added music "Something's Up"

  • Fixed a crash in the Tunnels where system.enemy_radar is still being called despite being deleted from the system.

  • Fixed an issue with some choice menus not updating to the newer menu.

  • Fixed issue with outdated Gateway teleport system (traveling TO the Gateway).

  • Fixed an issue where the after-credits scene didn't play automatically (could still be played by pressing ENTER when hearing the rain.)

  • Fixed an issue where the last Gateway entrance scene was placed incorrectly.

  • Fixed an issue where some of the Gateway's images were disposed of improperly.

  • Updated lighting/shading in Tunnels 1.

  • Updated lighting/shading in Tunnels 2.

  • Updated lighting/shading in Tunnels 3.

  • Added shading/lighting layers to Hotel Floor 3.

  • Added a new textbox for Club Solis.

  • Changed the healing water tutorial to the Church Dungeons, rather than the Tunnels.

  • Fixed an issue where the Cardkey drop by the lightrail is the WRONG cardkey, thus breaking the Otnemarcas dungeon.

  • Other under-the-hood tweaks and fixes.


JANUARY UPDATES

  • Added Luxerion to the travel list, folks! (although its one room and in heavy construction.)

  • Added a taxi to Otnemarcas.

  • Added a taxi to Luxerion.

  • Tweaked several dialogues.

  • Began the work for Niji's sidequests for the next version.

  • Added sfx "CarDoor_open" and "CarDoor_close".

  • Added sfx "CarEngine".

  • Added a new menu for Niji's Key Items.

  • Fixed an issue where Tournaments would doubledown on menus, thus looping the game.

  • Fixed a crash where deleted items were being called in Luxerion.

  • Fixed an issue where a canjump(true) call wasn't implemented, thus keeping your feet stuck firmly on the ground in one area.

  • Fixed an issue where Bob would teleport you into the Tournament shop room, bypassing the main door and softlocking the cutscene in the Tournament House.

  • Fixed a crash where exiting the hotel room would call in a map transfer to a deleted room.

  • Fixed an issue where location categories would disappear from the quest menu once in a while on their own accord.


MARCH UPDATES

  • Changed the lighting/shading of the Game Room (OTN)

  • Changed the lighting/shading of the Corridor II (GATE)

  • Changed the lighting/shading of the house interior in the forest.

  • Began rework of Hotel Kitchen.

  • Altered a couple icons for some skills.

  • Began new tileset for Hotel kitchen.

  • Added new item effects.

  • Tweaked some old item effects.

  • Added more descriptions to items that didn't have them before.

  • Added text flavor to more items.

  • Double-checked some item categories.

  • Replaced the old Special Skill images with new ones.

  • Separated the Special Skill character image from the level up image.

  • Deleted empty skill levelups from some characters.

  • (Multiple planned, nothing finished.)

  • Extended the Woodbury Forest theme.

  • Changed bname from "Actor" to "ActorOugi".

  • Added skills 324,325,326,327 to Blitz_Commands1.6.

  • Updated transport location images for Carrasco, Niji's Realm and Otnemarcas.

  • Inserted an experimental popup somewhere in the game.

  • Changed the size of the Battle Log.

  • Fixed a bug where some Ultimate Special Skills weren't activating at all.

  • Fixed a bug where some USS worked but didn't fade out.

  • Fixed a bug where some USS worked but the Enter Commands didn't pop up.

  • Fixed a bug where bank withdrawals would NOT give the player the amount requested, but rather just keep taking the player's money.

  • Fixed an issue where Red Potion/Red Ether weren't showing up in the item menu.

  • Fixed a crash in the Otnemarcas Hotel where a deleted sprite was being called.


APRIL UPDATES

  • Began reworking the Dark World.

  • Player can now enter the Server Room in Niji's Realm without cheating.

  • Made sure the player could exit the Server Room after entering it.

  • Tweaked dialogue in some places.

  • Tweaked enemy unit drops.

  • Tweaked enemy unit steals.

  • Tweaked the effects of Bandit III.

  • Tweaked the effects of Thief Wing.

  • Added a hidden effect to Thief's Accessory.

  • Added a Time Stone.

  • Minor tweaks to certain accessories.

  • Biography section updated.

  • Added "Shopping" BGM (work in progress)

  • Began work on "Luxerion" BGM (work in progress, 40%)

  • Temporarily changed Dark World's theme. Will be making a custom one soon.

  • Added "Puzzles" BGM.

  • Added a victory bgm/sfx at the end of winning a tournament.

  • Re-added function:spin_pic(_)

  • The menu for Niji's Realm has been fine-tuned, and now shows only tech-related items, rather than all key items.

  • Fixed a bug where Thief Wing wouldn't work 100% of the time.

  • Newly noticed bug - stealing isn't working all that great. "Snatching" doesn't work at all, so snatching has been disabled. Bandit III has been altered to reflect this.

  • Fixed a bug where Tournament would restart automatically due to a event loop / parallel event activation.

  • Fixed...yes...MORE unnoticed "enemy radar" crashes.

  • Fixed a crash in Club Solis when activating the special lights.
