Happy New Year! (I might post this a bit late)
Most of the time I have been putting work into this game has been spent coding, which is good! Though it might be a while before I get a battle system implemented. When I first started coding, I used this playlist of tutorials by Peyton Burnham, and I recommend watching it if you're creating an RPG-like game as I have.
Where is REAL gameplay for the game?
You'll see it very soon! I had a GIF for gameplay, but it was too large for Gamejolt, plus I had to use a MKV to GIF converter, so it was not good quality
New Mechanic
To add more spice to the battle system, the ACT Button will be replaced with the ACTION Button (very creative, I know.) But the new button will also have some new mechanics on top of the existing regular acts.
This new button allows you to perform your usual Acts but also adds a new Magic system and a new Grit mechanic. (Ignore that it says ACTIO-)
Magic
Humans once also used magic in the great war, which was just a spell that helped with combat, but once the fighting subsided, the need for human magic slipped away into obscurity. However, the monsters that will aid you on your journey can use spells in combat. These spells can heal HP and make the opponent stunned for a few turns.
Grit
Grit is a new mechanic that helps if you do not have an ally that can use magic.
Calm, Strengthen, and Hype can be used as an HP increase (also can go over your max HP by a bit), an ATK buff, or a Speed increase. Grit and Magic will also use up PP (The replacement for TP, but I'll talk about that later.) You may be thinking: "Didn't you forget to do this in the Skills style?"
Yes. And Undertale Yellow did this too in the final boss fight for Pacifist, But I don't care about it \_(ツ)_/¯
Wrapping up this year
Most of the stuff was made quite last minute, but a big part of this year (about three months) was spent on hiatus. But this is just the beginning! Also, one last thing. If you are following me because of this game, follow the game page! Game page follows mean more to me than actual follows. I have an idea called "The Alphys FIles," a set of videos showing the creation process behind Webster (aka this Universes Flowey)
Well, that's all for this time! Merry late Christmas, and Happy New Year!
See you!
