'Eyo! Today I'll be showcasing SuperRhys217's Rushed Adventure 2's battle system and actor abilities, while comparing them to the first.
Unlike Rushed Adventure 1, which used the default turn-based battle, this game uses Yanfly's Active Time Battle system. Don't know what that means? Well, instead of there being a turn order determined by the character's agility, all characters have a Speed or ATB meter that fills up over time (the speed of which also depends on their agility). Once it fills up, they're able to select an action and charge it up. Then when the action is fully charged up, it is performed. Certain skills take more time to charge up than others, and they can also affect the speed of the target, whether it's slowing them down with a status effect or directly removing Speed from the character.
Now, let's talk about skills themselves, specifically those that SuperRhys217 and UltraGamer8 have.
Just like the last game, SR217 can utilize magic while UG8 has access to really powerful physical attacks. However, this time around, the characters start with a few skills instead of having nothing to work with at first. SR217 can also no longer learn magic skills through leveling up, and instead learns them through story progression (he can still learn abilities naturally though).
Skills in this game are intending to be more unique from one another. For example, the spells that Rhys starts with, Fire and Blizzard, each have different uses aside from elemental weaknesses: Blizzard has the ability to slow enemies down, while Fire is the more accurate and stronger option.
I'm hoping to make enemies more interesting as well, instead of them all just spamming Attack or some other random skill. Of course there will be still a lot of enemies that do that, especially on Standard Mode (more on this later), but at the very least battles will be more engaging to participate in.
Speaking of which, battles are also no longer random and enemies now appear on the map, meaning you can avoid fights if you wish to! (Thank god.)
That's it for this Dev Update! I'm currently in the middle of transferring files to my new PC, and I gotta say, this thing is gonna make things WAY more bearable compared to my old one.
