Welcome back everyone!
I got some good news today! I am officially starting development on Welcome to the Mansion Remastered again! It has been TWO years (Woah I need to take that in…) since I stopped development.
There were two burdens that kept me from coming back.
The first one being the scope. As you might know, I have been really ambitious about this game. Especially the scope grew to be something more than what I could handle on my own. This worked really demotivating, since I just didn’t know where to pick up again.
The second one was me not having enough time to work on this game. I used to spent 2 full days a week on this project. However with University I sadly do not have that much time to spend anymore.
So I addressed the problems. Now, how does one tackle those!?
First of all, I am going to make some cuts to the scope. A lot of the biggest things I was working on, I kept a secret, so you won’t miss much. But these things were too much for one person to do. So for now I am shoving these ideas aside, maybe for once the rest of the game is finished.
That solves half of the problem, but still the game is way too big to just start biting in to. So I decided I’d make a global to-do list in which I keep track of all separate things I have to do. This will keep me more focused on finishing things in bulks instead of constantly shifting focus on what I am working on. Plus it will give you a good idea of how far I am in to this project! (That’s right! The To-Do list is available for all of you to see!). It is story-spoiler free, and I try to keep most gameplay elements spoiler free too. However it is always a “look at your own risk” situation.
You can find the Welcome to the Mansion Remastered Trello Board here.
I think it might be interesting for you to at least check it out to see how far I had gotten behind the scenes :)
To finish this off, I still have very little spare time. However now I have divided all the tasks in smaller ones, I will be able to make more progress in the little time I have.
I think that was almost everything I wanted to share! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them down below!
Before I leave though, I would want to thank you all for your continuous support. It is one of the reasons I have been aching to get back to this project! Thank you so much! And I will update you soon!
