Development update!

Hello there everyone, Paradise Lost Dev here! I initially made this game as a project for fun, I just wanted to see if the survival horror genre could translate into a DOOM-like game, and I wasn’t really planning on making it a “full game” so to speak. However, after receiving the views that I have and gaining 2 followers within only a few days of uploading (wow 2 is so many right?) I have been inspired to continue development!

I have plans on fully designing the layout of the castle the game takes place in, adding a full plot to the experience, and updating the art to not look so meh. On top of these I also want to add more sound effects (walking sounds, ambient noises, etc) and find someone willing to work on music for the game with me.

However, with all the new additions I want to add to the game and general improvements to the gameplay, development will take quite some time. I’m estimating around a year in total for development to take. I want to take this seriously, and devote myself to spending as much time as possible working on development and designing the game. I am only a 1 person team, with this in mind I know I’m not perfect at making art and music. For that reason alone I’m going to be commissioning better art for the game as well as sound.

My shortcomings being that I am only 1 person working on the game, and the funds at my disposal are pretty limited. I will be starting a kickstarter in the near future in an attempt to fund the game, and I’ve chosen kickstarter for funding as opposed to seeking out a publisher for a number of reasons.

  1. I would have full creative freedom with my game, and won’t have to answer to a publisher.

  2. I’m going to be very consistent with my game updates and letting everyone know what’s going on, to remain as transparent as possible with what’s happening on my side.

  3. It can take a long time to get a publisher, and I want to be able to have funding and dedicate myself to the project full time as soon as possible.

  4. Games funded by kickstarter are notorious for being constantly delayed or getting stuck in development hell, I want to show the developers of the world that delivering on what you say and being consistent as a dev will only improve your standing with the gaming community as a whole.

  5. Game development is my dream, and making good games that people want to play is a part of that dream. Having a strong community of people that want to play my games is invaluable and important as a new developer.

  6. I want to be “the peoples” developer. No corporate schemes, no sketchy development practices, and no secrets. Keep people updated on what I’m doing with their money, and not answering to any big publishers.

If you read this whole way through I thank you so much! Even if it’s only 2 followers, that’s 2 people in the world that want to know and see my game, and that’s important. I will continue development and look forward to updating you all on this in the future!

Many thanks,

Paradise Lost Dev.

Hi everyone! I started to create some environment props for my new video game, here is a cozy house in the forest. I'm planning to switch from Unity to Unreal... Let's see what new challenges I have to face. Made in Blender and Substance Painter.

A sneak peek at the new OST, can you guess what this song will be used for? 🤔

Distrust - HUMERUS (with dirty shade) Papyrus isn`t small. It's possible that I didn't draw him well, but he crouched down and bent towards us. I'm still bad at moments like this

This is my first post so be gentle!
