Hey! Welcome to the first devlog for Havoc Fox! As promised, we’re going to be revealing some cool stuff today.
Number one: Development on the new stage 2, Weapons Base, is going smoothly! The stage has been renamed to Aqua Rocket Base, and has been given the feel of a cruise ship, which fits Fortuna’s aesthetic better and gives me the opportunity to take the level design in many different directions. The game’s third cutscene has also been completed! Here are some previews of what you’ll be seeing in the panther’s humble abode:
The first notes of the invasion. A turret’s natural habitat is not a pile of stuffed animals.
Pool area! Complete with dangerous spitting lions. Now only $9,999.00.
In the cruiseship’s movie theater, it seems the dinosaur supervisor didn’t do his job.
These areas also have minibosses that match their theme! More will be revealed about these bosses in the next update.
Number Two!
Introducing the Tutorial Zone! This area is an optional visit, offered after the player gains a new move from any of the game’s more prominent bosses, such as the SwanBot in Moonlit Cove.
Guiding you through these tutorials is an enigmatic virus named Cascade (voiced by Marion Toro). She’s prepared some lovely art of her own for visual reference. She might let us show it later, but we have to ask nicely.
Lastly, Number Three!
New cast announcements…and an entirely new game! Well, technically. It’s actually an arcade minigame, one of a few others still in planning phases-and it will be playable in Aqua Rocket along with other stages, which will all introduce new episodes of the game! What’s it called, you ask?
This is an arcade shooter inspired by games such as Parodius and Q-Yo Blaster! This game will feature at least three unique stages and bosses, along with an assortment of new songs, and while not being easy, it will be playable for people who haven’t become accustomed to the schmup genre at all, and is completely optional. However, playing and beating each “episode” will allow you to gain bonuses such as increased buffer time and more gems/health!
Now, to introduce the cast of the game….
FOSS LIGHTNING
Foss, an easily excitable cyber-cat, is the main character of the game, determined to get Macaron Land’s gem back from her archenemy! She utilizes attacks involving lightning and lasers, and isn’t afraid to give you a shock! She’s voiced by Dawn M. Bennett, known for voicing characters such as Sash Lilac (Freedom Planet) and Frosch (Fairy Tail)!
Next up, KURAKKA FIRE
Kurakka is a heinous thief residing in Macaron Land, although his origins are unknown. He steals many things, but this time he’s overstepped his boundaries, taking the gem that powers the magical flight of Foss’s home! Will he get away with it? That’s up to Foss to figure out!
He is voiced by Elliot Law, known on YouTube as MegaGWolf! ( https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCULXdCe-q6klSFLCGKMdM3w )
Macaron Magic will have a playable demo posted on our main gamejolt page on AUGUST 30th! Stay tuned!
That’s all for today. More next Sunday! Hope you enjoyed our first devlog!
