Hey all, this is the first of our weekly Devlog.
To start off, what is Evobeasts?
A fair question.
EVOBEASTS: WHAT IS IT?
Evobeast is a creature capture game, in the vein of Dragon Warrior Monster, Pokemon, Digimon, etc. Growing up, we at Street Gaming loved these games, and wanted to put our own spin on the genre.
From the start, we wanted a game that felt really open. Of course, we have a story (more on that later) but the way you go about evolving that story, the people you meet, even if you work with the bad guys or the good guys, all depends on your choices. Basically, you go out, find monsters, battle, and do whatever you want.
One of the first choices you have, and a perfect example of how choices will influence the game, is which Evobeast you start with. There are two choices, and depending on your choice, will determine on which Evobeasts you run into throughout the rest of your story.
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT US
We’re a three man team of game developers. While we’ve worked on a handful of projects, this is our first that we’ve decided has the potential to really be something great and want to share with the public.
Josh: handles all of the programming and in game art.
Brandon: writes the story, designs the dungeons, and draws up the concept art
Loghan: the music man.
We all have jobs outside of game development, but this is where our passion lies.
OUR GOALS
We’ve been working on Evobeasts for just shy of a year, and love the direction the game is taking. While time lines are always changing when it comes to development, here are some of our goals.
-February 2017 - Open Beta demo
-March 2017 – Kick Starter campaign
-Fall 2018 – Official release
Right now, we’re putting the finishing touches on our demo, and look forward to sharing it with you all.
