I guess it's time for another devlog for the game. This should've been out sooner but not gonna lie, I forgot.
The Gameplay
Puppet Theatre's primary gameplay loop is going to revolve around the games unique interpretation of the task based gameplay loop. The game handles tasks in a much more hands-on way then usually seen with the player being involved with with them in every step of the process. The tasks are definitely not an after thought in this game, in fact they're the central focus of the game above even the mascot threats. Your performance of these tasks will directly impact the outcome of any given level, and you'd better be quick because time is not on your side.
Be careful however, because as you work on completing your list of tasks, a certain enemy in the game will be working on completing his own set of tasks, so its critical you hold him off from achieving that as long as possible...
Just remember, nothing shown is final, everything is subject to potentially change.
Game Progress
So as most of you guys should know by now, the game is slated for a Fall 2023 release. I still intend for that to happen, and I still think its realistic given the game has been making good progress, although if I feel its not enough time I can always push it back. The situation with the game as of late has been interesting however to say the least. The game has been getting a bit of a face lift as of recent, with a lot of gameplay being recoded and a lot of art being redesigned.
This mainly comes down to the fact that a lot of things in the game are old and either could be heavily improved or no longer reflect what I want the game to be. This process shouldn't take too long though, and I've already made significant progress. Given the current circumstances, don't be surprised to see the few things that have been revealed on the game page to change though.
OTHER
That just about wraps up the devlog. Not much to share this time around, like I've said I'm saving most things for actual teasers/trailers. I hope this small gameplay reveal was interesting though.
Additionally, just remember to stay realistic about game expectations. I've seen some excitement for the game here and in other places and while it's definitely nice, you also have to remember that I'm just one person making this. I think if you go in with realistic expectations, it'll be a lot more enjoyable that way.
As always, thank you for the support, and stay tuned for more.
