Devlog
Since the 0.2.0 update to the first week demo, I have made a lot of progress in the game.
First of all, I have created the map layout and rooms for the second week. I will not show them, as I want to keep the them a secret for now.
Every map has its own theme. Week 1, as is known, has an abandoned building theme. Week 2, 3 (and 4) also have their own distinct themes.
I have also implemented some of the new art for the art style change. For those who do not want an art style change and prefer the old art style, there will be an option to revert it in the settingseppe.
I will only show some of the new art now, as some of it is incomplete and I'd like to save it for November.
I have updated the character section of the Extraseppe. They now include separate tabs for each character's biography and mechanics, and use custom pixel art instead of edited renders.
The Extraseppe menu will include more than just characters in the second week demo. Yes, there will be a second week demo. There is too much content for me to finish comfortably. I'd like for you all to have the game in more frequent parts rather than a whole that you waited too long for.
Here is Giuseppe's. It shares an image with Evil Giuseppe's, as the art is based on a concept sketch I did before I considered changing the art style of the game.
Here is Evil Giuseppe's.
Here is Antonio's. He is pointing at his shoes. He wants you to look at his shoes. Don't fall for it.
Here is Lorenzo's.
Next, I have added two new minigames, the first being...
Minigame #5: Cupseppe
Cupseppe is based on the shell game, the game where a ball is put in a cup and the cups are moved around, and then you must guess which cup the ball is in.
Originally, the cups were going to be colored and emblemed, like the hats of those Mario brothers. I thought that would make it too easy, so all of the cups are light grey now.
Giuseppe is put into a cup, and you must guess which cup it is after they move around. Find Giuseppe 3 times to complete the minigame.
The second minigame is...
Minigame #6: Whack-A-Seppe
Whack-A-Seppe is based on Whac-A-Mole. You are given a target, either Giuseppe, Evil Giuseppe, Antonio, Lorenzo, or Riccardo (or Mariosheldonborg, but I haven't put him in yet.)
Hit the target correctly, and you win the round. The next round you are given another target, and you must do the same thing. Hit the wrong target, and you will have to start over. Hit the right target 3 times, and you win the minigame.
Important Poll
I have some ideas for extra content, but I don't want to take too long getting it all out, so I will make some of it, and make the rest in the full game.
The two with the most votes will be available in the Week 2 demo, and the rest will be available in the full game.
The options are...
Weekend elevator minigame
Canonically, the game takes place over the course of 3 weeks, including weekends. This minigame will show the weekends.
While waiting for the elevator to reach the next floor, you will have to fend off a horrific creature and repair any damages it causes to the elevator.
This minigame will be optional, and you don't have to play it in order to unlock some sort of alternate ending.
If you fail Saturday, you will be automatically moved to Sunday, and if you fail Sunday, you will be moved to the next week.
For every day of the weekend you complete, you get a prize from a prize wheel.
All Pill Evil Giuseppes.
Voting for this means you want all 15 current Pill Evil Giuseppes. Since I'm adding a non-canon optional fourth week as extra content, I will be adding more Pill Evil Giuseppes. Perhaps I will have a vote to choose which ones to add.
Endless versions of the minigames available in the Extraseppe
I am planning on making endlessly playable minigames that can be found in the Extraseppe. They may or may not be changed to better fit the entire screen (i.e., resized or given more screen space.)
Cheats & challenges
These are little options you can enable to change the difficulty of the game, such as blind mode, making minigames harder, making characters more aggressive, and more.
These will be found in the Extraseppe.
Collectable journal pages
The collectable journal pages act sort of like achievements, as you need to complete a certain task to get one. The tasks can range from completing a minigame in one try, to being killed by a certain character, to finding easter eggs.
These pages will contain lore that explore the characters and their world. They can be accessed in the Extraseppe.
That is everything I wanted to talk about in this post. I hope you all enjoy the Week 2 demo when it releases.
If you have a suggestion for a minigame, please leave it in the comment section. (I'm running out of ideas, please help.)
I'll see you all in November with a new gameplay video showing off the new content.
