Hey! Sorry for the lack of a devlog last week, I was busy completing some stuff I was behind on due to trying to finish up Macaron Magic in time for the 30th. It’s all done now, though, so let’s get to it!
Let’s get the biggest thing out of the way first. I redid the game’s “roll-call intro” to be more smoothly animated, and while some shots are still not what I’d like them to be in the final version, I’d say this is much closer to what I am aiming for. Hoping the framerate didn’t get butchered during .gif conversion.
Gotta love trying to animate between long marching practices!
Secondly, I said I’d reveal more about minibosses in the first devlog, but I proceeded to forget to do that. So I will do it now!
The minibosses in question are the “guards” in Aqua Rocket base, big baddies that lead the swarms of invaders in the ship. These three are the Pufferfish, Yolanda Rabbit, and “Shreddie Grassbear” (strange nickname?), each designed to fit the area they inhabit (pool, theater, and garden respectively).
So far, Pufferfish is the only one complete—here’s a shot of him in action!
He might be stuck.
Yolanda is in her planning phase, but she does have some completed animation we can show. Hoping to start work on her this week after completing some other minor mechanics for Grey/Moonlit Cove polishing!
She’s a living cartoon character!
Besides that stuff, Grey’s been getting some upgrades in the animation department along with fixes to his snappy transitions between certain states. He now has a landing animation for when the player falls while not holding a directional button, and will have a “skid”-ish action for stopping after a set time running. I also put the time in to make his running animation less angry-looking.
That’s all I really have for today. But, I checked in with Cascade about showing her art here…
See you next Sunday! ;D
